"Aphmau, I'll be at Meteli for about a day or two, discussing the trade between us." Garroth said, standing at the door to his wife's house.

Aphmau and Garroth had now been married for near five months. Garroth was still the head guard of Phoenix Drop, but people now treated him like a Lord as well. Levin seemed to be happy about the change as well, now that he could call Garroth his father.

"Alright. But Garroth?" Aphmau called to him as he turned away. "Be safe... Alright?"

Garroth put a hand on Aphmau's cheek, kissing her lips. "I will. Don't worry. I plan to come back." And with that, Garroth set off to Meteli. Before he did, he stopped by Laurence and Dante's positions to say goodbye. If he could remember correctly, Laurence would be by the new houses and Dante would be on the wall with Brian.

He headed off to the new houses, and saw Laurence standing by Dante's new house, talking with Brenden who was putting some finishing touches up on the house. He smiled and walked up to his 'brother.' "Hey Laurence." He greeted. "What's up?"

Laurence turned around and smiled at his friend, patting him on the back. "Oh, just making sure Brenden here is doing his job instead of flirting with the pretty girls."

Brendan furrowed his brow. "HEY! I do my work! ...sometimes... Maybe not all the time, but still! I build when I need to!"

Garroth and Laurence laughed a little, smiling at each other and then looking at Brenden. "Suuuure you do." Garroth snickered. "And I teamed up with my brother to doom the world." The two guards burst out laughing. Garroth would never do that in his life!

Brenden crossed his arms. "You guys suck." He grumbled, turning back to the house and continued to add some more details to the outside of it, planting flowers and putting a fence up.

Garroth chuckled. "Well, I'm off to Meteli for a trade discussion. So I'll see you both later." Garroth said with a smile, heading off to the wall to say goodbye to Brian and Dante before he left for Meteli.

"Hey Garroth?" Garroth turned around when he heard Laurence call his name. "Be safe... Okay?"

Garroth nodded and flashed Laurence a smile. "I will." He turned back and began to walk to the gate. He could understand why everybody was concerned though. It was the first time Garroth had been out of Phoenix Drop without another guard or Lady Aphmau accompanying him. I'll be fine though... Garroth told himself. They shouldn't worry about me.

Dante was standing by the gate, tossing an apple in the air and watching it fall back down into his hand. Garroth smiled when Dante looked up at him and smiled a bit. "Hey Garroth." He greeted, putting the apple away.

Garroth nodded at his friend and smiled. "Morning Dante. Anything been happening recently at the walls?"

Dante shook his head. "Nothing so far. It's been quite around here. I'm guessing you're heading out to Meteli now?" Dante looked up at Garroth, his eyes reflecting seriousness and curiosity.

Garroth nodded. "Yep. Just about to head out. "I'll be back by tomorrow morning or tonight."

Dante nodded and turned around, opening the gate for Garroth to leave. "Be careful, alright?" He looked at Garroth with a bit of concern. "I know you can take care of yourself, but still... Be careful."

Garroth nodded, and left though the gates. He turned to wave at the two guards, before he walked over the hill, and left Phoenix Drop behind him.

-------------------------------------

Garroth stood up from the table across from Lord Hayden. "Thank you for your time, Lord Hayden. I'm glad we were able to come to agreements with trade and the alliance."

Hayden smiled at Garroth and shook his hand. "Thank you, Lord Garroth, for taking your time to come down here. And please, tell Laurence and Cadenza to come down to Meteli at some point to see their father."

Garroth smiled and nodded. "Of course. I'll make sure to tell them. I must get going though, if I want to be back before nightfall."

Hayden gave a nod. "Of course. Expect a shipment of leads coming your way from a merchant within the next week."

Garroth left the house of Lord Hayden, and headed out of Meteli. Getting back would take a little, but if he hustled, he could be back before nightfall.

However, when Garroth reached the bridge, it was collapsed. That meant he had to go another ten minutes around the river to find another bridge. Once he had reached the other bridge, he groaned as he saw the sun set under the trees. "Well, there goes my plan of getting home before sunset..."

Garroth sighed as he climbed over a few fallen trees and tried to hurry home. He looked over to his left and saw a cart riding down the road. He looked back up in front of him, and continued to climb over the trees. He heard crashing of trees and turned to the left again. The cart had run off the road and was going towards him at a fast speed, and was gaining speed as he rode over to him. Garroth's eyes widened and he tried to move out of the way. The cart slammed into him and threw him against a tree. Garroth cried out as he fell to the ground. He felt blood coming from his head, and felt a searing pain in his leg. He looked over at the man who had been driving the cart. He stumbled out of the cart and fell on the ground, drunk as could be.

Garroth's hands clawed into the gravel and he dragged himself forward. "I...I ha-have to get ba-ck..." He winced as his broken leg dragged painfully across the ground. Parts of his armor were digging into his skin, and he felt blood running down his stomach and chest as well. He continued to drag himself along the path, determined to make it back to Phoenix Drop. His leg, stomach, chest and head were throbbing with pain as he dragged himself back to his village.

It took nearly an hour, but Garroth had managed to drag himself back to Phoenix Drop. He looked up at the wall, seeing Brain and Dante look down at him. "Garroth!" Dante ran down to the gate and opened it, carrying Garroth inside. "What happened?!"

"Dr-unk man... Cart... Hit me..." Garroth whispered, his voice sounding raspy.

"I'll get Aphmau!" Brian said worriedly, and he ran off to find Aphmau. After a few minutes, Aphmau came running down the path with Brian and Laurence. It look like Aphmau had been pulled out of bed, her hair was a mess. She knelt down by Garroth and pulled him into her arms. "G-Garroth..!"

Garroth looked up at his wife, trying to lift his arm up to brush her hair out of her eyes. He was too weak to even do that. "Aphmau... The trade discussion... Was a success..."

"Never mind that!" She said frantically. "We need to get you some help! You're bleeding!"

Garroth could feel his head becoming fuzzy, and his vision was beginning to become black. "A-Aph...mau..." He pulled the last of his strength and reached up, pulling her face down to hers, kissing her deeply.

His arm dropped to his side, and his head slumped backwards. "G-Garroth...! Garroth!!" Aphmau's voice sounded far away in the distance.

Garroth then realized that he didn't hurt anymore. He was just chilled. He couldn't even feel his body anymore. So... Cold... Garroth felt himself begin to drift away, as the chilled feeling in his body began to fade as well. He looked up at Aphmau's face, as his vision became white.

His last thought, was of his and Aphmau's future together. Their kids, their acomplishments, and being able to see their kids and Levin grow up strong.

Aphmau... Zane... I'm so... sorry...
