It's been a bit over an hour and Sam hasn't stopped explaining about the gang. It doesn't seem to bother him that I'm not even paying attention. All I wanted to know was A.) who the leader is. Which he curtly replied with a name 'caspian lokheart'
B.) what's the goal of this gang? To which he replied with a full length oral essay on his part in the gang, what the gang does, which is deal with 'bad' wolves, and why they do it.
And C.) why do they want me? "We want you because your special. For some reason a particularly nasty pack of wolves has taken an interest in you, so we take what they want so they can't complete what ever they wanted to complete" Sam says whilst looking straight out onto to road. "We are about half hour away, kay?" He asked. I reply with a nod and lean my head back onto the car door and fall asleep.
* * *
"She needs to be trained" I can hear a voice say. I think it belongs to Sam. He sounds urgent and worried. "If we don't get her trained she's gonna lose interest and leave. You and I both know that she's strong enough to leave with out any one trying to stop her" the voice repeats. It's defiantly Sam. Who could he be talking to.
Ugh. My back is aching. I moved my head off the hard surface and look to see what's happening. I'm still in the car but I'm lying across the back seat. What the...
"Ugh" I groan as I fall off the edge of the chair and onto the car floor. Not my best moment. It's dusty and dirty. I sneeze... repeatedly. Ugh I hate sneezing it's so uncomfortable. Any way back to the problem at hand. I was currently on the floor of a very dusty car in the presence of my driver and only acquaintance and another individual which the details I have not acquired yet. Lifting myself off the ground I look up and see Sam and a very hot red head. Damn... this guys makes me internally swoon. But at the moment I felt very self conscious and speedily got up off the ground, fixing my hair and blowing the loose strands out of my face.
"Uh, hi?" I question my choice in words internally. 'Hi?'!!! 'Hi?'!!! God that's got to of sounded stupid. Jesus! Get yourself together Zarina!!
"Zar! I thought you were asleep!" Sam urgently said. "Ugh yeah I was, i guess your talking woke me up" I said shrugging, not finding any big deal out of this. Whilst Sam and I were talking the anonymous stranger seemed to have criticised my body mentally. "Her posture is sloppy, muscle is low, probably not a strong individual, hair will get in the way of combat." He listed off. At this point I'm absolutely fuming. Stepping forward my self conciseness left and rage took over me. I kicked his shin making him groan, pushed his other foot back making him tumble over and then as a finally I bashed his back with my foot. He was in undoubtable pain. "Am I still a weak individual?" I ask pleased with my performance. He jumped up and was obviously pissed off that a girl he not moments ago critiqued kicked his ass. "Good, your a wolf in sheep skin, we need some one like you" he said changing his expression from a fuming one to a slightly pleased one. "I'm William by the way" he said holding his hand out for me to shake. His grip is strong and his features are sharp, me likey. William smiled at me as he let go of my hands. "Idiot" Sam mutters as he shakes his head. I knit my eyebrows together and look at him puzzled. "William here was another experiment. He was always human but the experiment gave him some wolf-ish abilities. His vision and... the ability to read thoughts with eye contact, was it?" Sam says. My eyes widen as I blush profusely. "And now I'm working on non eye contact mind visuals, like seeing what they see and knowing what that means to them." William says grinning. "Well, I've gotta go get bosses paper work ready, so get acquainted" Sam said gesturing to William and I.
Sam jogged off into the building. I looked around and it appeared we were at a house, three storeys and two balconies poking out of the modern house. It's painted a creamy white colour with a chalky black window frames and deck posts. "Well... as you heard I'm an experiment. Not a particularly successful one because now I'm extremely bipolar. My mood swings are down right insane. So they put me in charge of one on one combat and the armoury. I haven't had a descent person to train with in a while so I'm glad you're finally here." He says. I adopt all of the new information and slowly begin to understand."may I ask, where exactly is here?" It sounded stupid I'm my head but even worse out loud. "Well... I think we are somewhere along the border of England, the beach is half hour walk thata way and the closest civilisation is an hours drive thata way" he says casually pointing in each direction. We continued to talk over how he's gonna train me and he showed me to the kitchen, lounge room, his room (in case I need to find him) and my rooms which was (conveniently) placed across the hall from his. He told me to get dressed into something comfortable and meet him out front. Looking around my room I found a door that presumably opens to a walk in wardrobe or a bathroom. First guess and I've got it. The door led me to a descent sized walk in, not to big but filled to the brim with clothes. I laughed as I saw half of it was black and a quarter was white the rest was a mix of khaki green and maroon red. I grabbed a pair of black leggings and a long maroon shirt that went to just below my butt. Slipping on runners I went to meet William out front. When I walked out my, now, bedroom door I realised I haven't a clue how to get back. Walking back in my room I see French doors that lead to the balcony. Walking out I look over the edge and sure enough William is standing out front waiting. I back up and take a deep breathe in. I can't believe I'm about to do this. Picking up speed I run to the edge and jump off the edge, and land with a light thump. I just jumped from three storeys up!! Wow! That, was, Fun!
"Jesus, you just gave me a heart attack" William chuckles as he walks over to me. "I believe my name is Zarina, not Jesus" I reply sarcastically.
"Bloody hell... that was fun" I say. "Any way... what did you want?" I say slowly.
"We're going for a run to the beach" he states enthusiastically.
"yay. fun" I say sarcastically.
"It's a race, first person to get to the beach gets..." he pauses as he thinks of a good enough prize."bragging rights?" He questions. I shrug and nod. "It'll do" I say. "On my count, 1, 2..." he waits to make me hesitate. "3" he finally says and I take off on a sprint. I could smell the ocean with my wolf 'senses'? And sprinted towards it on the path that had been made by people walking through here.
My heart was exhilarated and my breathing, ragged. The thoughts that once clouded my mind dispersed leaving only the pure need to get to the salty water and crunchy sand. I haven't been to the beach in too long. And all to soon my feet hit soft ground and grains of sand fell through my shoes. Slipping them off I felt the familiar soft crunch of sand under my toes and slowly scratching away the dead skin that had built up since the last time I have exfoliated my feet.
The breeze whipped my hair taking it in all directions. I walked down to the damp sand and sat awaiting the tide.
What felt like years later I heard the crunch of sand under heavy feet. Guessing that William had caught up I stayed in my peaceful position. Sitting down next to me I hear his uneven breathing. I chuckle slightly and move my gaze to him. He has sweat beading along his forehead and hair matting together.
"You want to go for a swim?" He speaks, breathing heavily between each word.
I can tell he wants to go swimming to cool down but just to toy with him I reply "I didn't bring swimmers" which was true, but I was happy to swim in my clothes.
" just wear your shirt over your undergarments, it goes down far enough, you'll be more covered than any swimmers could provide."This was true also. Feeling the water at my toes, it was warmer than the chilled wind that whipped my face.
"Sure why not" I say standing up, slipping off my leggings. William follows suit but whipping off his shirt instead of his pants. I glance at him and almost have to take a second look. His chest was a well defined six pack.
"Last one in is a rotten egg" he says before childishly running into the warm water. The sun was near sun set and it was slowly decreasing hight going closer to the waters horizon. A picture perfect moment, or at least it was until William came back shaking, wet, and ready to pull me into the water. Squealing was no use and just for his fun I didn't take him down either. Well.... To be honest I didn't even think of trying.
"Come on" his voice rung in my ears."it's time for a dip" he chuckled menacingly and jumped under the waters surface with me in his arms. The water stifled my squeals as my body got used to the unnatural warmth of the water and the freezing blistering wind. Swimming out further William and I got up to his neck my forehead, so I was swimming to not drown.
"Shorty" William says. He's a good 7 inches taller than me. "Giraffe" I retorted. He looked at me and laughed.
"May I ask of your age?" I inquired. "Nineteen" he replied simply. "Yours?" He questioned. "Seventeen" I grinned and kicked his stomach making him lose his balance in the water and grab onto me, which wasn't a good idea because than we both went under.
My vision was blurred under the surface and my hearing was gone. Resurfacing I laughed and looked at William. "Hey William?" I get his attention. "Mm" he hums in notification. "Why did you choose to join the gang?" He looks slightly shocked at my inquiry but covers it up. "My uncles the leader. And no we aren't like buddy buddy. He just told me what the goal is and I agreed. Of course I asked my father first but he was fine with it and is now actually helping out with any weapons we need." I nod and splash him with water to lighten the dense mood.
"Look, the sunset" he says nodding his head to the slight left where the sun was setting. It's not like a movie scene and the sun is perfectly aligned, it's slightly to the left of the centre of the beach."We best head back now." I said but he chuckles and says, "no need, there's a beach house along the beach here, I'll call and say that we are gonna stay there the night." I nod but say "I don't have any clothes to change into" he softly smiles and replies "there will be clothes there"
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!! A special update! It's double the usual length so be pleased. I just got carried away. ANY WAY! What do you think of William? Yah or nay? I'm still trying to find someone to portray him BUT I WILL! Don't worry! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
