Prologue

Well how did I end up in this predicament? Either I am the worlds biggest fool or have lost my mind, anyway the worst that could happen is my idea gets turned down and unfriended in every manner possible. This is what Ashiq told himself as he drove his Fiat uno to campus, clearly ha had been thinking about this thought for quite some time. If any person were capable of meta-meta cognition it would be this guy, Ashiq Ariefdien, a now 24 year old single male in third year psychology at UWC. Ashiq has always been an outspoken person doing everything he could to help a friend and juat so happens that a particularly special friend is in need of some help and it's a female no less. The female is Imaan Davids, a 21 year old single female studying third year foundation social services. Ashiq and Imaan met during their first year orientation and have been friends ever since although Ashiq was quite aware of his feelings for Imaan after about one month. The problem Ashiq faced was that he at first didn't think that Imaan would be into him in the same way and being her friend to begin with might have been a bad idea because he doesn't want to loose her in any way thus Ashiq kept his feelings under wraps and has just tries to be a good friend. Close to the end of the first year Imaan started dating a guy named Mujahid and this really pissed Ashiq off big time but all that was over looked when Ashiq saw how happy Imaan was, although this hurt a little bit he was glad to see her smile especially given that Imaan always spoke about not dating as it's kind of gheraam and would much rather prefer a relationship similar to how her parents have met which was through an arragned marriage. About two months later the relationship ended and Imaan was even more adamant about not dating anymore. Ashiq always just laughed about this when she would bring up his single status, he would constantly say "I have had enough broken hearts to last me a lifetime" and then the conversation would change. For the next six months Ashiq and Imaan became even closer and Ashiq decided it was time to spill the beans about his feelings for her (most it came about because he couldn't stop dreaming about her and not even in a sexual way, this made him believe he was inlove as in true love) and he would do so in style. The first thing he did was write a letter and post it to her home address two days in advance of the scheduled meeting and the next step was to keep a clear and open mind and use his ears in conjuction with his brain. They met on a Thursday in the newly renovated campus cafeteria at about 11am. First they caught up on some things and bought hot chocolate as the rain and wind danced outside, as calmly as he could Ashiq told her the true intention of their meeting and thought pattern 3 played itself out. Thought pattern 1 was the most hopeful outcome and that being Imaan having reciprocal feelings, thought pattern two was the utter dismissal of his feelings and ending even the friendship but thought pattern three was the most likely yo happen. Imaan heard what Ashiq would gave to say and calmly gave him a reason to dispute his feelings but still maintain their friendship and that is exactly as he saw it happening. That was more than a year ago and with that in mind Ashiq has set off on another wild goose chase.
