School Play // Chris Lanzon

Chapter 1 // The Smile

I was in the audience of my brothers school Christmas play. My older brother, Tyler who's 17, was a sheppard. You're probably wondering why, but everyone had to take part in it and he got the part of a sheppard. Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Audrey and I'm 15.

I was scanning the stage for him and finally found him. I was looking at the others that were next to him and my eyes fell onto a boy with dark brown hair, almost black, that was brushed to the side. He had brown eyes and was playing the part of one of the 3 wise men. He was scanning the crowd, probably looking for his parents and he must've seen me staring at him as our eyes locked and he smiled at me. I smiled back and stopped looking.

The principal announced something that I wasn't paying attention to. She walked off stage and the boy I was looking at earlier came on stage with a guitar. "Hi, I'm Chris and I'll be singing 'Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas'.

During the song he made a little joke:
Instead of singing "Have yourself a Merry little Christmas" he sung "Have yourself a merry little CHRISmas". It was funny and the crowd thought so too.

Everyone was standing and cheering for Chris. I even found myself doing the same. He was incredible! Once Chris had left, everyone started leaving the auditorium. I went with my parents to find my brother. My parents were way ahead. I got outside the auditorium and found Chris leaning against the wall. I walked past and smiled at him. He grabbed my arm gently and said "Hi, I'm Chris. What's your name?" I was in shock "Ummm... Audrey" I was so nervous, he probably thought I was stupid stuttering. "A pretty name for a pretty girl like you" he replied smiling. I blushed. "Well, I better get going now. Nice meeting you Chris." I said "Uh Audrey. Is it uh ok if I have your uh number?" He said nervously. "Sure!" I replied. We exchanged phones and typed our numbers in and said our goodbyes. I found my parents and congratulated my brother.
