She looked at me crystal blue eyes gleaming with joy. She grabbed my hand giggling.
"Come on Drew! Fallow me!" she yanked my hand and turn around to make sure I was still fallowing her. Where else could I go, she had my wrist in her hand still, right? She pulled me into a sunny meadow where the grass was up to our knees. Finally, she let go of my hand and ran off.
"Catch me if you can!" she yelled playfully. I chased her and when I finally caught up with her I grabbed her by the waist. I was having this dream quite often lately. This time it had it's own twist. When I grabbed her waist she disappeared with a puff of smoke, and suddenly all of the sunlight in the meadow disappeared.
"Hahahaha! You'll never find her now!"
"Help Drew! Help me! Please!" she screamed
I woke up with a start. Sweat dripped off my face. Anxiously I threw off my covers and rolled out of bed. I needed to getting around. I looked at the clock. 1:37 am. That dream was much scarier than I usually remember it being. I yawned, and padded across my empty apartment.
My name is Drew Davison. I have brown hair and brown eyes, pretty boring right? But according to all of my female class mates, instead of being pretty boring, I was the pretty boy. I mean I'm not that handsome. From that description, you'd probably think I was some sort of player, but I'm far from that. I'm usually pretty quiet. I'm also the quarterback. As for the player rumor, that was just some upset girls that I had turned down. But anyways back to my dreams.
I had been having that dream every night since I was 10. When I was ten Alison had appeared as a young golden haired girls in a flowery dress. As I got older, she got older, and as I got more mature she matured as well. Alison is the girl in my dream. I see her as sort of my best friend, as weird as that sounds. Well, to correct myself, Alison is my dream best friend. My real best friends, Kate and Dan lived down the street in a different apartment complex. We'd known each other since before birth. We were all born on the same day in the same hospital. Coincidence, right? Yeah, you'd think, but our moms like to tell us that the reason for that was that they were such good friends. Every time they tell that story, it always makes me laughed.
Well after that last dream I was pretty freaked, but I knew just what would make me feel better. I picked up my phone.
"Kate? Sorry to wake you up, but I had that dream again only it was different... I need to talk to you in person." she was silent a few movements before she finally answered me.
"Okay. I'll be right over." She yawned, "But this better be good."
"Thanks Katie!" *click*
I knew Kate would come. She was the only one who knew about the dreams, partially cuz she was a girl and understood my softer side. Partially because she looked and sounded exactly like Alison. With Kate's wavy golden hair and glass blue eyes she was practically worshiped at the university, not that she would ever mis-use her power over all the guys on the campus. Unlike most of the girls there she had a clean reputation. Interrupting my thoughts was the click of my lock. My heart nearly leaped out of my chest, until I saw Kate slip through the door in her lacy pj's.
"Hiya." she said quietly.
"Hey Katie."
"You know I hate it when you call me that!"
"And you know that's WHY I call you that." she laughed and pulled me into one of her famous bear hugs.
"Let's get down to business." she said, suddenly serious," What was new this time." whenever we discussed one of my dreams it was always serious. This was because, we didn't believe it was just a coincidence that she was exactly like Alison, we believed she was Alison, only in the live universe, not the dream one.
"Well this time when I grabbed you, Alison, by the waist to stop her from running away, she disappeared."
"What do you mean, disappeared?"
"You disappeared into a puff of smoke!"
"Okay, then what?"
"Well then I heard evil laughter, then you started calling out to me for help. I woke up after that, well, after you screamed bloody murder that is."
"Shit." she murmured.
"Kate, I think you need to be careful, if the story is that you are Alison, then you might disappear too. Do you want to stay here tonight? I could use a little company."
"Well I'll stay here a little longer, but Dan's gonna get worried if he comes up to my apartment, and I'm not there."
"Thank you."
" Well, we are in this together."
"Speaking of in this together, shouldn't we tell Dan about my dreams? I mean he IS the third member of our trio."
"Yeah, I think you're right Drew. He deserves to know what might happen. Well the whole me disappearing thing."
"Am I calling him, or you?"
"Who cares, but he needs to know." for the second time that night I picked up the phone. I dialed his number. As I listened to the tone coming from my phone I looked at Kate. She had the same look on her face as I was sure was on mine.
"He-hello? Drew, what the hell is your problem man?! It's 2 am!"
"Whoa! You actually picked up the phone Dan!" Kate rolled her eyes and circled her finger in order to show me just to get to the point.
"Well yeah dude, who did you think it was? Yoda?"
"No, well, buh..." Kate grabbed the phone
"Dan just get your ass over to Drew's apartment, ASAP!" I heard murmuring coming from the phone before Kate spoke up again.
"What's in it for you?! Well nothing, I mean unless you want that picture of you from the last Christmas party super sized and hung up in each and every class room on campus." murmur murmur murmur
"Good." she hung up the phone and passed it back to me.
"He's on his way." she said, clearly pleased with her blackmail.
"How are we gonna tell him?" I asked her.
"Tell me what?" we both looked over to see and out of breath Dan panting in my door way in his boxers and a tee shirt.
"Did you... Run here?" Kate asked. He nodded his face turning red.
"Will someone tell me why I'm here and what's going on?" he asked loudly.
"Well, Kate and I have something to tell you..."
"You're dating! I knew it!"
"No, we aren't dating."
"Well then what the he'll do you want to tell me!" we took turns telling him all about my dreams. By the time we were done he wore a look of confusion.
"So you guys really think Kate is in danger? I can keep and eye on her."
"I think I'll be fine for now so I'll go to Dan's apartment and mine so I can grab us some clothes so we can stay here. I'll be right back, 30 minutes at the most." She grabbed her coat and slipped back out the door.
After 30 minutes, she still wasn't back. Dan and I called her multiple times. When she didn't pick up, we rushed out the door and into the street.
"Kate! KATE!" but, Kate was gone.
