I walked down the concrete path, my black rucksack hanging off my shoulder as I ran my hands through my hair. I just got her number... I just got Alana's number. I knew Alana, we were sorta friends briefly in 7th grade because of our parents. I would talk to her sometimes but it's been a long time. I'd liked her for about a year now. She was sweet, innocent, and creative. Me... not so much. I came across as Dark, Mysterious, and Fearful. That wasn't entirely true. I had a dark side don't get me wrong, and I was mysterious, I was unpredictable. People are afraid of me, but they don't need to be. On the inside I had a light, screaming to be let out. I was creative, I could be a real sweet guy. I just don't show it. I'm afraid to show it. I'm in the popular group, they are all a bunch of assholes but they are the only friends I have. If I let them go I'll be an outcast. I opened up the front door of my house and walked in. "Shawn? Is that you?" My mum asked from the kitchen. I could smell food. She was baking muffins. My favourite. "Yeah Mum, It's me!" I said, slipping my bag onto the floor and walking into the kitchen, giving her a hug. "Making my favourites I see" I smiled. "Sure am" She said. She pulled them out of the oven and set them on a tray. I would eat one right now, but I'd rather not burn my mouth. Instead, I kicked off my shoes and ran up the stairs. I spotted my acoustic guitar in the corner of my room. Seeing as I was home, I picked it up and began to strum at the strings.

I thought that I've been hurt before,
but no-ones ever left me quite this sore,
your words cut deeper than a knife,
now I need someone to breathe me back to life.
Got a feeling that I'm going under,
but I know that I'll make it out alive,
If i quit calling you my lover, and move on.
You watch me bleed until I can't breathe,
Shaking falling onto my knees,
and I'll be done without your kisses,
I'll be needing stitches.

I heard a creak of the floorboards and looked up, seeing my baby sister, Aaliyah, stood at the door. Sure, she wasn't a baby, she was 11 years old. But to me, she will always be my baby sister. "Hey Little Sis" I smiled. "Hey." She whispered, she looked a little upset. "Hey... What's wrong?" I asked, setting the guitar down. "Why don't you show this side of you, Shawn? You're so creative and talented, but you won't show it. You pretend to be someone you're not" She said, the words broke my heart. "Aaliyah, It's a lot more complicated than you think" I said. "Shawn please, that song you were just singing, you could really get people with that song. Please put yourself out there soon, or you know you'll regret it in the future" She said, giving me a hug. I wrapped my arms around her waist, squeezing her. "I guess it couldn't hurt" I whispered. I just said that to satisfy her, I want to make her happy but putting myself out there is such a huge step. Aaliyah left and I picked up my phone, shooting Alana a text.

Shawn: Meet me at starbucks. 10 minutes x
Alana: I'll be there ;)

She was flirting. This proves the effect I have on girls. Alana likes to avoid this kinda thing but she can't resist. I'm enjoying it though. I slipped on my jacket and my shoes. "Mum! I'm going out, be back later!" I yelled, before heading out the door.

I stood outside Starbucks with my hands in my pockets and my head against the wall. "Shawn" I heard. I looked to my left and saw Alana, she looked happy to see me. I walked over, pulling her into me and kissed her. I'd always love the way her lips felt against mine. "What is it with you and Kissing me?" She questioned, she wasn't flirty right now, she actually looked quite curious. I tried not to get lost in those gorgeous green orbs. "Those lips are everything I crave." I mumbled. "Eager much, Shawn." She giggled. "Anyway, Why'd you ask me to come here?" She asked. "It's been a while since we've properly talked" I said, I was still in my dark mode. "Yeah, we could've been great friends if you hadn't fallen in with those assholes ya' know, Shawn. You could've made something of yourself. I know you are different and you can show that, but you won't" She sassed. She was right I guess, I let go of her to stay friends with a bunch of assholes that to be honest wouldn't care if I got hit by a truck. I wasn't going to show her that. I gripped the bottom of her arm and pulled her hard into me. "Are you sassing me?" I growled. I hate being harsh on her, she was so sweet and beautiful, I'm just afraid of getting attached. Her eyes filled with fear as she looked into my chocolate brown eyes and her head dropped. She squeezed her eyes tightly shut as I squeezed tightly at her arm, a few small tears pricking at the edges of her eyes. My eyes grew wide at the sight and I loosened my grip, looking down to see a purple mark.... bruising already.

Had I just done that?
