The glaring shine of the sun flooded my eyes forcing me to wake up. I blinked and looked around at my surroundings. Everyone else on the bus was still sleeping or in the grueling process of waking up. The old lady across from me was snoring softly. I looked out the window and saw tons of people crowded in the streets walking and talking and going into stores. Is this how it was everyday? Thank God I wasn't staying here. When the bus stopped at the bus stop, I was the first to get off but not before I gently shook the old lady awake. I quickly switched on to another bus that would take me to Anacoco. The smallest village in Louisiana. Population: 866. 867 now. The ride there was uneventful. I just read my book the whole time. When I got off, it couldn't have been more different than New Orleans. It was quiet and quaint. Some people were in the little shops. Some people were sitting outside. I got off the bus and slowly started walking. I didn't really have a destination. The money I had left was strictly for food only until I could get a job. So I walked to the park. Yes, the one and only park they had. I dropped my bag onto a bench and laid my head on it resting the rest of my body on the bench. I looked over at the children playing and laughing. I put my hand on my stomach and squeezed my eyes shut. The black cloud was coming again. It was thundering around me making me convulse. It filled me up sending wave after wave of extreme pain. Finally it left, leaving my body feeble and aching. "Well, you look like shit." My eyes snapped open and I saw a girl, around my age, standing above me. She had bronze hair to her upper arms and kind looking chocolate brown eyes. She had freckles around her nose and a pretty face. She was shorter than me. I nervously ran my fingers through my waist length blond hair. I sat up, now sitting on the bench. "Thanks", I mumbled. "No problem!" The girl answered cheerfully. Who the hell was this asshole? She sat down next to me and smiled. "I'm Joy." She said. I stayed quiet. "So...what's your name", she prompted me. "Everly." "Cool. And why are you laying here by yourself?" I didn't know what happened but that question made something in me snap. I started crying in front of this girl. But strangely I felt comfortable around her. "Because I have no where else to go."
