The Summer To Do List

I stepped out my patio door, still managing to carry the three glasses of Hawaiian punch as I walked along the new tiles that my mother had suggest a while back. At first I was very uneasy about it, but got a closer look and was at a loss for words.

"Hey girls," I said with most of my focus on getting the drinks on the glass table without spilling them again.

   "Welcome back!"

I sat down and took a long sip of my punch while staring intently at my in-ground pool. It looked really peaceful since the sun shown on it and a few leaves from my cherry blossoms tree had fallen in.

An interesting looking butter fly flew across my pool and onto one of my Daisies. It was black with white dots outlining it, with a little bit of blue and orange at the bottom of it's wings.

"So Ivy..." Brooke said as she got up and started walking along the side of the pool. I'm pretty sure if the guys were here, they would have pushed her in already. "What else do you wanna do this summer?"

"Hmm..." I said, thinking out loud. "Is there really anything else to do? We already took up most of the notebook page already."

She turned to me, quickly cupping her face with her hands to shield her eyes from the sun that was piercing her eyes. "Ivy! Most of the page is taken up by your childish doodles!"

She had a point, but still. It's not like there is a million things in the world that was possible for us to do.

Sighing, I picked up a heart shaped sugar cookie, accidentally dipping it in my punch.

"Wait! Ivy-" before Opal even had a chance to finish I had the cookie shoved halfway down my throat.

"I tried to warn you..." she muttered loudly under her breath as she watched me spit the cookie out. Or at least I thought she was watching me. What the bungie jumping monkeys? Last time I checked, I didn't dye my cookies pink. Actually, I don't even think I have pink.

My eyes scanned the table, stopping at my glass of fruit punch. My jaw dropped and I turned to Brooke, closing my mouth and shooting daggers at her with my eyes. "You see what you made me do?"

"Me?" She asked, her tone going from higher to lower as she did. I watched as she spun on her heel, probably not even thinking about the puddle of water that was underneath her feet, and fall in.

After a moment of flailing her arms, she shot out of the water while gasping for air. As mean as it sounds, she looked a bit hilarious, shooting out of the pool with her arms and legs going into every different direction.

"Ha ha..." wait for it, "...Ha!" I said, going out of breath by how much excitement fell from my words.

She lifted her self out of the pool while glaring as she made her way towards me.

I peered up at her, me being sat down, and grinned hugely, or at least I thought, at her. "Karma's a bitch, right?"

She rolled her eyes before a mischevious grin formed on her lips.

"What's with-" before I could finish she shook her head, getting drops off water in different places of my body.

"Brooke!" I shrieked while grabbing a jacket to use a shield.

"Karma's a bitch, right Ivy?" She teased, using my words against me and giggling. She grabbed the towel that she had laid out and began to dry her hair.

"But seriously, Ivy, what's something you've always wanted to do but never got the chance?"

I picked up another cookie, double checking that there wasn't any punch on it, and bit into it. "We could all go on a picnic at the top of a hill," I suggested through a mouthful of cookie.

It actually sounded like "We cwould all go awhn a pwicnhic at thwe thop owf a hill." just so your wondering. Don't think I'm some alien who knows how to talk regularly with food in my mouth. Actually , that would be epic!

Brooke nodded in agreement as Opal added to our list. We watched as she skipped a few more lines and added something else.

"What else did you add, Opal?" I asked with my glass titled towards my mouth so I could take a drink.

"Make a scrapbook at the end of summer." She informed us with a shrug while drawing a flower with a highly messed up face.

"We could take pictures of the events we actually do on our list for the book!" Brooke added, sitting down with a smile on her face.

Nodding, I shifted in my chair uncomfortabley. "Anything else, ladies?"

   "Skinny dipping?..."

"Seriously?" I asked with an uneasy tone. This girl...drives me crazy.

She nodded while putting a hand out for emphasis, "Our summer is supposed to be about possibilities and all that crazy stuff!"

"Okay! How about we temporarily dye the tips of my hair red?"

She grinned and slapped my arm lightly, "Now you're talkin'!"

"Seriously?" Shaking my head, disbelief clear in my voice.

"Yeah! You'd totally be able to pull it off!"

"Okay..." It was totally meant as a joke once I said it, but then again I've always wanted to try it.

Opal handed me the list, briefly telling me that I should read over the list and to mark out or add anything I needed or wanted to.
