It had been a calm, breezy evening turned nightmarish for you. The gentle breeze became a howling wind that brought pounding rain to your windows. Along with it came lightening, and loud clapping thunder. Oh, yeah – and you’re petrified of storms. You tried sleeping through it. You attempted to be brave and just wait it out. The storm wasn’t waning, however, and your courage was. It was times like these that you hated having a private room in the dorms of Satome Academy. So, mustering up the last of your fading courage, you left your room and began very slowly making your way down the pitch black hallway.

At every flash of lightening, your path would be illuminated, followed by a clap of thunder, causing you to jump and then cringe. After descending two flights of stairs, and almost slipping down them several times, you made your way to the end of the hall and stopped in front of a door. You didn’t bother knocking, knowing both boys would be asleep, so you quietly opened the door. You slipped inside the dark room, and closed the door with a tiny click. You could barely make out the sleeping forms of Shou on the left, and Natsuki on the right. Silently, you made your way to the edge of Natsuki’s bed and sat, careful not to wake him. The blonde slept deeply, muttering about cute things in his yellow Piyo-chan pajamas. You smiled to yourself despite your fear of the storm raging just outside the window. You’d know him all your life, and he was everything to you, especially a safe-haven whenever it stormed. You slipped under the blankets next to him, and sighed at the warmth and comfort he always brought you. However, when he began to stir, you mentally scolded yourself for waking him. Natsuki sat up, rubbed his eyes, and yawned.

“Is it storming again Name-chan?” he asked sleepily. You nodded your head just as a clap of thunder sounded, causing you to shrink down into the bed more. Natsuki pulled you closer to him and held you in his arms. “It’ll be alright Name-chan. Just close your eyes and focus on something else.” As another set of lightning and thunder hit, you pressed your head to his chest and his under the covers. You heard a soft thudding, and it took you a moment to realize what it was. It was Natsuki’s slow, steady heartbeat, and you found that if you listened to it, the sounds of the storm began to be drowned out. So, that’s where you slept all night – your head against his chest and your heartbeat matching the calming rhythm of his.
