Prologue
Jacob promised Bella that he would always be beside me. When I needed a babysitter, Jacob was there. When I needed a older brother, Jacob was there. When I needed a friend, Jacob was always there. I knew that my mom and dad made him promise that when he first met me. Jacob told me a lot of things that my mother did not want me to know. At a very young age, I almost lost everyone in my family. My mom had prepared to give me up, and send me away with Jacob. My mom had not told anyone of her plans, but I could see it in her eyes. I was only a few weeks old when I first looked into my mother' eyes, and realized that I might have to give her up.
The thing is, I was not exactly human. I was not exactly a vampire. I was the only human in my family, because I was half-human. The other part of me was vampire. I never really got the concept when I was young. I was four years old when I was five months old. I was never the little girl I was supposed to be. Other vampire children in history were not able to be controlled. I was different. My parents were confused at first, too, but I was happy. I had two loving aunts, two loving uncles, three amazing grandparents, two wonderful parents, and one...well, I have Jacob. I am a lot like Jacob. We both give Aunt Alice headaches, we are both half-creatures, we neither look our age, and we both love to hunt.
I am now five years old. I look to be fourteen or fifteen, though. Granddad Carlisle said that over the next two years, I would probably age like a normal girl. I felt as if I would spend the next to years in one spot, instead of moving every year, or when people got suspicious. I was ready to live a life that I had always imagined...
