I stepped into my room and looked at myself in the mirror. It'd been awhile since I'd done this, for I was always afraid of what I would see. The fact that I just accessed my apartment on the 23rd floor via my window after a day of soul-collecting for him, didn't help to assure me that I would see myself in the reflection. But, I always did. It was just a different me. My crystal blue eyes shone fierce, my pale blonde hair was wild, my light skin was red tinged from exerting force all day, oh, and my all black clothes were torn and bloodstained. The blood wasn't mine though, I didn't bleed anymore. Not easily, at least.

"Angeles the demon slave, that's me", my reflection made a face of disgust back at me. At least I still had my humanity. I still mourned when I had to kill innocents, I still felt joy from the happiness of my loved ones, and I still miss who I thought was my sister. My exterior was hard like steel, I was strong and powerful from drinking the demon's blood. That didn't make me a demon though. My interior remained mushy, emotional, and weak. Still human essentially. Humans also like things to be fair, that's another thing I still retain.
Madness had stripped away everything I knew, and made me his slave, now I did all his dirty work and presented him his dinner, let him suck what was left of my soul away for power. He took away my family, my job, my foundation, my innocence, and most importantly, my sanity. I didn't know if I could get any of that back, but I knew one thing for sure, I would get my sweet sweet revenge. I would see him crumble. I would see Madness on his knees at my feet, begging for mercy, in the same position I was so many times. Only fair, right?

...

After showering and changing clothes, I decided to make myself some tea. I was settling into my couch waiting for the kettle to shriek when I heard a knock at my door. I got up to answer, shaking my head at myself. I used to jump anytime there was someone outside, for fear it was my new master. Now though, I know Madness. He'd sooner cause a building blackout and appear behind me than do something as simple as knock on my door, all about theatrics that one.

I opened my apartment door, and immediately stepped outside with my visitor. Drake smiled shyly at me, and my heart started racing. Madness was possessive, and while I'd worked a deal for him not to hurt Drake, he still didn't allow us to be together much. It'd been a few months since we'd actually talked in person. What was he doing here?

After a minute of contemplation, I decided to let him in. Madness recently visited, and only came when strictly necessary, surely this wouldn't spark another encounter. Drake turned on the tv and asked me to sit next to him, but he was interrupted by the whistle of boiling water. When I returned, Drake had opened a book left on my coffee table. Drake wasn't much of a reader, but I had always been one. I noticed he was grinning at the book, beaming in fact. I sat next to him and poked his arm to get his attention.
"You've been reading lately?" Drake looked at me, smiling wide. My heart got that sick, sad feeling when I nodded. I hated having to lie to him. In all reality, that book had been left sitting in my living room for months now, just sort of being moved around. I hadn't read a lot recently, what with collecting souls and plotting revenge. Drake always fretted about me and my mental state, and to see his excitement at some return to normalcy, I couldn't shut him down. It seemed like I was hiding too much from him lately, whenever we spoke I lied about something. It was for his own good though.Drake didn't know what I did for my master on an almost daily basis, I let it slip once, after I'd gotten injured in an attempt to end Madness, I was sent to the hospital. While I was there, I killed the doctor with his own scalpel. The day after I got home from the hospital, I blabbed it to Drake. Luckily, he was able to dismiss it as the drugs talking and hushed me to sleep. As far has he knew, Madness still visited me every once in awhile, along with his right-hand man, Dagon. Keeping tabs on me is all, that's what I told Drake.
