Midnight Hunting Dawn

Chapter One

I licked my lips, as I signalled the bartender for another bloody mary. He nodded in understanding. I lay my head back, slightly. I was still acutely aware of everything around me, the slightest twitch or shift would be followed.

I breathed out; wanting to experience some humanity. I smiled; for a second I let myself pretend. It wasn't easy for me to pretend to be human; it was next to impossible. I have no humanity inside me; I'm just a freak; an abomination, as others called me. A cruel smile shaped my lips as I remember the insults that had been thrown my way over the years. I let the bitterness settle inside me. Humanity was overrated, I told myself.

At the thought, my tongue found my sharp canines, my fingers tingled with electricity. I watched the flashing lights pour through everyone; the music blasting, but that didn't stop the point that I could hear every conversation in here. The pointless, mundane conversations. Of course, some of my kind took place in here; they were out to seek pray. You didn't have to read their minds to know what they wanted; hunger coloured their eyes like the mark on their neck coloured them inhumane; abnormal or their thirst for blood, or smell of dog.

The doors of the club seemed to burst open magically, followed by a tweak of fog forming around. It looked like a scene of out a James Bond movie. I barley restrained my hysterics that veiled my throat.

I watched three muscular men walk into the club. I knew who they were; everyone did. I watched as an eerie silence descended among our kind. I smiled wickedly. I observed as their eyes searched for me; their nose crinkled at my smell; and I found that quiet insulting actually. I didn't believe I smelled that bad. Of course I didn't; to humans my smell was alluring, addicting but to Vampires, I didn't smell exactly disgusting or sickly, I just smelled distasteful; the perks of being a half breed. And quite frankly, I didn't like their smell either; most Vampires would snarl at the smell; but since I wasn't full vampire it was just an uncomfortable odour in the air.

Simon dropped my bloody mary on the table; and gave me a wink. I shake my head in acknowledgement. When would these silly enforcers learn? I grab my glass and tip it to my lips; savouring the O negative blood. It was one of the few good things this earth provided me. Although, I hated being a vampire it did have its ropes. Being a half breed was heard of among our kind. Half bender; half vampiress, is not entirely breath-catching, but being a fire summoner, sure as hell was.

It was unfair and inhumane to keep a creature, a freak like me alive. What everyone seemed to agree upon is that I was an abomination; an act of freakish nature. What bastards, I think to myself.

It wasn't as if I asked to make into a bloodsucking leech? Did I? No! I was forced into this life of night; into this bloodlust and craving. I didn't ask for my mother and father to disobey all of our kind's laws. I didn't want to be turned, but I was idiot that thought she was on top of the world.

Yet none of this matters, I was still a creature with no rights. I scoffed at the words of many of my people. Others, just wanted me because they think I'm a hell of an asset, an advantage. A freak; but I could be a new and dangerous weapon. But, although I really hated myself for being vampire, I did have enough pride to not sink on my knees and be used willfully just to have an organization of self-righteous bastards pretend to not dislike me.

The blood came pouring down my throat and I heard the distant cry of the man. I ignored the mortals across the club and focused on this moment of pleasance. I gulped slowly; it echoed through my mind and only fed my pleasure. I slurped the blood with vengeance. It flowed down my throat like the sweetest honey. I close my eyes and lather in the moment of sheer pleasure.
