"Great news! The city was happy to hear our idea, and decided to let us do the race through the whole city!" "Yay!" "Wait... don't you think the whole city is kind of you know... going overboard?" I reply. "No. Plus you need to work out anyway, you're starting to gain weight." "WHAT!? We are about the same size!" "So, I am not the one GAINING weight, you are." "Yeah, whatever." "Besides Makoto's whining, anyone have suggestions on where we are gonna start the race?" "Oh I know! We could start it at the city park?!" Ayu says shyly "Hmm good, but before we go with that, anyone else?" "Well, we could start it, go through the park, keep going until we hit the end of the road, do a complete circle around the city and go down the same street to the park and back to the school?" Sakura reply's. "Hmm... I like it! We will stick with that!" You know, most of the time I like Sakura, but right now... no! I mean who is gonna run around the WHOLE city?! "Are you ok Makoto? You were starting to space out there for a second." "Oh... yeah I'm fine, I was just thinking. That's all." "Oh ok!" Ayu reply's cheerfully. Hmm... Well this race is gonna suck.
"I have decided I am not gonna participate in the race." "WHAT?! You can't do that!" "Yeah? And why is that?" I reply with a smirk. "Because... because...." Yoshino pauses. "Because you're a fatty! And you need exercise!" "I am not! And I do not need to exercise, I am just fine as it is." "Think whatever you want, but you are gonna participate in the race!" "I have better things to do then run around a city for no reason." "Hey, it's to raise money for the children who need it!" "So, we probably won't even make that much, I mean really, who is gonna wanna race around the city for something like that?" "EVERYONE!" "Aren't you exaggerating a little?" "No!" "Really? You think everyone in the WHOLE city is gonna race?" "Yes, I do for a matter of fact!" "I have come to a compromise, How about I go to the race and watch from the side lines?" "No!" "Fine, I'll race! But if I finish before you do, then you will treat me to ice cream." "Ok, deal but same goes for me." "Deal."
Day of the race
"On your marks... Get set... GO!" Everyone takes off. There is a lot more people than I expected. As I take off, all I see is everyone pass me. Maybe I am a little out of shape? As I start to jog, I see the little kid from the park fall. "Are you ok?" "Huh? Oh it's you!" His face lights up. "Yeah, I'm fine." I help him up. "Oh you hurt your knee badly!" It was only a few scratches really. "Would you like to ride on my back?" "Oh... but I would just slow you down mister..." "No, it's alright! I don't have any intentions of winning anyways." "Well I do! So I will just run, but thank you for the offer mister!" "Ok, if you get on my back then I will have a reason to win this! Ok?" "Oh ok then." He jumps on my back and I take off passing maybe 23 people.
"Wow mister you're fast!" "Not really, but thanks for the compliment." As we continue to pass people, I see Yoshino, Sakura, and Kaede. "Hey I know that girl! She is the one who walked me home!" The kid says pointing at Yoshino, Sakura, Ayu, and Kaede. "Hey I know that girl! She is the one who walked me home!" The kid says pointing at Yoshino. "Oh how about we beat her?!" "Yeah, lets!" We fly by them, but I don't think Yoshino has any intentions of letting us win. She catches up to us. "What's with the kid?" "He fell, and hurt his knee, so I decided to win this for the both of us." "Well, looks like two little kids are gonna have their dreams crushed today." She looks and the kid and says sorry for telling him we are gonna lose. "We'll see about that!"
46 minutes later
"There it is! The finish line!" The kids says cheering. I look at Yoshino, who is still tied with me. We managed to pass everyone else. "Looks like we are going find out who is buying who ice cream right here." "Yeah!" I say panting. Yoshino Dashes for the finish line. As soon as we are about to tie, the kid jumps off my shoulders, and passes the finish line before any of us. He landed on his feet. "WHAT?!" Yoshino and I yell at the same time. "I told you I was gonna win this didn't I?" The kid reply's with a smirk. We all start to laugh. When we get done laughing, the other three finally cross the finish line. "Ho-w about we get some i-ce crea-m? It's on me." I say panting. "Yeah" "Sure" "Ok" "Yay!" When we get to an ice cream parlor, I order a cone, and Yoshino, Ayu, And Kaede share a sundae. Sakura orders another cone, but ordered something else, it kinda looked like a sundae. "Makoto... will you come with me for a moment?" Sakura says in kind of shy way. "Sure."
