Chapter 17:
Heaven's Blessings...
I step out of the vehicle, dressed in an all black suit with a white shirt and black tie, My shaggy hair combed to half way decent for this... event. Yoshino, Sakura, and Ayu ( Ayu is still recovering so she is using crutches) follow all dressed in black holding flowers of white, pink, blue, and red.
I lock the car door and catch up to the others who had moved on. This is it I say to myself. The day I thought would never come... I fight back tears, but only to fail. I wipe them away quickly to try and hide it, but what did it matter? The rest were crying too.
We reach our destination and take a seat. I look around and see alot of unfamiliar faces, I could count with my fingers of how many of these faces I actually knew.
I look around and see a picture board. I observe it closely. I see a whole bunch of pictures. Alot of the pictures had people which were here in them.
A guy walks up to the podium and asks us to take a seat. Next, he asks us to be silent.
"Let's take a moment of silence to remember this blessing sent from Heaven, a girl who always brought us up when we were down, a girl who always went out of her way to help..."
The moment for silence last more than just a moment. We all sat patiently in silence just thinking of the good memories.
"We are gathered here today" the man started. "to celebrate the life of a wonderful friend, an amazing daughter, and an outstanding sibling. We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Kaede Yami..."
I should probably tell you why we are at the funeral of our dearly beloved Kaede...
I had woken up earlier than usual. I couldn't fall back asleep for the life of me, so I decided to sit outside and watch the sunrise, but it was still around 5:30 AM. I yawn and I was about to go in and get something to eat when I heard Kaede's voice.
"Makoto!"
I turn around to see Kaede wearing a jogging out fit and her cat ears. We talked for awhile. She told me how she is going to start doing jogs every week. She was listing to music on hear phone with ear-buds. Personally, I thought she looked good like that.
"You should start wearing that more often!" I joke
"Only if you start wearing me more often!" She replied with a smile then kissing me. I couldn't hold back a grin. Kaede can make anyone smile. I guess it must be her beauty.
"Well I gotta go finish my run. Oh wait? Do you wanna come?" She asks me sounding hopeful.
"What the hell? I got nothing to do anyways" I say trying to act cool. Kaede lets out a sigh of relief and quickly grabs my hand.
We take off down the street and start to take the jogging path on the mountain not to far from home. Once we finally reach a spot where you can view the whole city, we stop. We sit on the bench there exhausted.
"Makoto look!" Kaede says tugging on my arm and pointing off into the distance. "The sun is rising!"
I slowly look up and see the combination of colors streching across the endless sky.
"You know, I admit that the pinks,oranges, yellows, and blue are pretty wonderful, but I think the most beautiful thing I see is you. She can't help but to smile at that.
"Makoto, are you free today?"
"Yep I'm going to do the samething I did yesterday... Bum around my house. Though now that I think about it, I did that the day before yesterday... and just about everyday before that..."
