Chapter 18:
Have a Little Faith In Me
(Short)
Makoto's Point of View
It was around 6 AM when I woke up. It was a surprisingly cold morning in the summer. You know me, so you know I don't wake up on the weekends or breaks earlier. But I'm glad I did.
I woke up covered in a deep sweat. I didn't know why I did though. It was still dark out, but I didn't wanna go back to sleep in the sweat-drenched gray t-shirt I was wearing, so I changed into a red t-shirt. I sat back down on my bed. I lay back down and close my eyes to try and fall asleep again. After a few minutes, I was asleep... or I thought I was. I was... startled when I heard my door creek open, a figure walk over to my bed and lay beside me. It felt familier, but I convinced myself I was dreaming and in the blink of an eye, it was light out again.
"Wake up..." I hear a voice whisper in my ear "get up and kiss me damnit!" That's when I awoke. I open my eyes and I couldn't speak. There right in front of me was... Kaede...
"Wha-" I am interupted by the figure that looked like Kaede's lips locking with mine.
"It's been far too long! I needed that!" The figure released our lips.
"I thought... you were... dead" I managed to get out somehow.
"I did die." She paused, letting me absorb that. "Have a little faith in me though. We're not over yet, not on my watch!" She smiled. She explained how she talked with 'God' in 'Heaven' and how she wasn't actually supposed to die, but someone else.
"But then... how did you... get out?"
"Makoto, you really need to have a little trust in me!" I accepted her answer, then our lips embraced each other again, this time I initiated the kiss.
It was awhile until I realized the outfit she was wearing. She was wearing only one of my dress shirts (which was too big for her) and her underwear. As a man, I was greatful honestly, but I didn't want someone walking in on us (you know my luck) so I had her dress in some clothes she had left at my house before she... died? I never wanted to throw them away because they reminded me of Kaede.
It is around 9 AM, I am still pretty shocked that Kaede was back, but I'm not complaining. She and I both grow hungry, so we head to the kitchen. We head down the stairs, and spot Yoshino chilling at the kitchen table bobbing her head back and forth, headphones blasting. Kaede goes to run to her but I stop her just before she launchs.
"I have a plan, stay here until I call you" I winked
"Aye aye, cappin!" She replies.
I walk over to the table and sit down. Yoshino takes a glance at me in confusion.
"Since when are you up this early?" She asks removing the headphones and dropping cereal out of her mouth, then quickly covering her face.
"I have a surprise" I say with a smile. She looks even more confused.
"You got me something?" She asks swallowing her cereal.
"Not me exactly..." I motion to the hall. Yoshino drops her spoon with a 'CLING'. She again covers her mouth, eyes filled with tears of shocked and happiness.
"I was struggling to stay put! It's been too long!" Yoshino still wordless.
"I thought-" Yoshino is quickly interupted by a hug around the torso.
Kaede explains the situation, Yoshino is still shocked, but seems to accept the unexplainable answer. It isn't too much longer untill Yoshino has called Ayu, Sora, and Sakura. They show up what seems like 2 seconds. Once they arrive, Kaede explains it once more, all of them accepting like me and Yuuki.
We decide it is best to tell Kaede's father. We go there, but he isn't there.
"Oh yeah..." Yoshino says "He moved. He left when uhh... yeah"
"Well looks like I have no where to stay then..." She glanced at me sideways. I still loved her, we had an extra bed in the closet (no one ever uses it 'cause it's not the best, so I figure it would be alright if her and Yoshino could share a bed) and plus mom had always enjoyed Kaede's enthusiasm for me, she always rooted for Kaede when we were younger, so I figure mom will be okay with it.
We all decide to go the beach since it is a nice day out. Though, you know how girls are, so we have to go shopping for bathing suits.
We arive at the mall around noon. The girls spot a store that contained everything we need for a day at the beach, or so the sign said. We venture around in the store for a little bit, looking at all of the weird and wacky 'pool' toys, then they all go in search of suits. I go and find a nice red and black pair of basket-ball shorts because I don't like swimming trunks. I purchase them, 'equip' them and head back to the girls.
Yoshino is covered in a blue and white striped suit, Sakura is in a pink and green polk-a-dot Ayu and Sora go with gold and white, and Kaede goes with the complete oppisite of Yoshino's outfit, red and back striped. We (I) pay for them and grab a beachball to toss around. Next, we head to the beach, now around 1:30 PM.
Sora and Yuuki go and do whatever the do (I don't pay attention to them anymore), Sakura and Ayu build a sandcastle, and I 'teach' Kaede how to swim, even though she already knows (or knew).
It grew late fast (or so it seems), it is around 7:30 PM now. We all decide to go home. I ask my mother over the phone because, like always, she is working. She says it's fine. She also says it's okay if she sleeps in my room if she wants. Kaede fist-pumped in the air to herself then yelled 'thank you' and 'I love you mom!' Yuuki seemed pretty exahusted anyways. I wonder what Sora and Yoshino did all day anyways.
Yoshino went to bed right when we got home. Me and Kaede watched movies for a few hours, then headed to bed. We kissed for awhile. Once we stopepd sucking faces, Kaede moved to right next to me, moving my hands to over her chest and fell asleep along with me (I was in heaven honestly!). I chuckle to myself, kiss her forehead and fall asleep.
