CHAPTER ONE

Clara's POV

It was a typical day in my small home in Santa Monica, California in 1973. I got up and got dressed. Put my hair up and went downstairs, but when I got down no one was there. Which was odd.

24 hours earlier:

"Clara, wake up your going to be late for school!!". "Coming mom," as I said while I was racing down the stairs. Our house is always hectic in the morning, with my brother who usually gets driven to school because he always sleeps until the last minute possible. My dad who is out so quick you barely notice him, and my mom who is high strung with her job and us and dad, she losses her cool sometimes. On my way out the door I remember my mom saying something, but I didn't hear her. As I was walking the half mile to school I felt like someone was watching or following me, so I looked around to see if anyone was there. I spun around and saw no one, so I forgot all about it. Until...

Present day:

I walked into the kitchen and saw a note,

" hello, my darling, this is a game. You will follow the directions to the letter or you will regret it. Win the game you get your family back. Lose, and your family will die. Have fun. I will be watching.

Sincerely, the conductor

P.S. the directions are in the mail box."

I didn't know what to think. I tired to call the police but the phone lines where cut. So I went out to the mailbox. Whatever was in there, I had to follow to save my family.

When I got there, the red flag was up. I opened the door and saw a letter, rolled up and heeled together with a red ribbon. As I took it out I could feel it was heavy, like there was something in it. As I turned it on its end something fell out, when I looked down at what fell I saw a rabbits foot. I didn't dare touch it. I carefully unraveled the red ribbon and read,

"Good, my darling, you followed my first instructions. I have some ... Rules that you need to follow

1. Don't tell anyone about our game,

this is number one because it is most important, if violated it will mean immediate death to your family, your mother, father, and brother.

2. You must report after every task to this number : 958-642-7130, always leaving a voicemail.

Obey these rules and you may live... Maybe."

CHAPTER TWO

I looked back into the mailbox to see if the task was there, and there it was red with white lettering.
