Deep chocolate orbs scanned their surroundings in a mixture of stupefaction and perturbation. He gazed frantically at the cloudy grey ground which was littered with cans and bottles, he detected a miasma of smoke and alcohol and felt as if he was being suffocated by the humidity in the air causing his clothes to cling harshly to his skin. Trampling through the gigantic mess, he made his way to a broken down gate with its hinges dented and rusted, creaking and creating an agonizing screech as he sidled through, his curiosity eating at him alive. Suddenly, a rocky path appeared before him, leading him further into the unknown world he had found himself trapped in. Contemplating his options, he came to the salient conclusion that following the path was the best option to discover how he got there and where he was. So he walked, and walked, and walked, until finally he came face to face with a broken down building with alarming stains and patches splattered all around the brick walls, filthy windows smeared with dust and dirt were cracked as if they had been struck by rocks and rats where scurrying around in a disconcerting manner around the whole building. Startled, he marched into the building and was gobsmacked at what he found. The inside was the exact opposite of the outside, the polished white floors shining and glimmering to the amazingly white walls that seemed to be illuminating the room with their radiant colour; the room was so clean and shiny that it almost didn't need any light, but of course in the ceiling was placed a mesmerizing diamond chandelier twinkling above his head like the flashing of cameras. A gruff cough snapped him from his awe struck state and his gaping was soon diverted onto a petite teenage girl occupying a wooden desk in the middle of the room. With a dozen piercings surrounding her ear and a few tattoos crawling up her neck, overall, she was very intimidating.
"Calum Thomas Hood, took you long enough to arrive." She grumbled placing her cigarette on the desk and studying him in an unnerving manner.
Calum was perplexed and how this stranger knew his identity and was aware of the fact that he would be there. "How do you know me?" He questioned with narrowed eyes.
The unknown teenager giggled and shook her head. It appeared to be that she took Calum's words as a joke. And after what seemed like hours of her laughing and Calum standing in front of her awkwardly, she stopped and wiped her eyes. Impressively not smearing her eyeliner, she spoke.
"Wait, you really don't know why you're here do you?" And after a rough shake of Calum's head, she sighed.
"Well Calum you appear to be in the land of the forgotten in which all dead beings retire to after they are forgotten by everyone back on earth. You were in paradise before your arrival here, do you remember how you died at least?" she questioned curiously.
Calum was bewildered. He was sure this was a sick prank because there was no way he could have been in paradise. "No I do not remember how I died! Where the fuck am I actually? Who are you?" Calum shouted furiously with fist clenched. The girl's eyes widened as Calum's temper clearly took her by surprise but nonetheless she kept her guard.
"My name is Tracy Blackthorn, I am a sort of secretary for the forgotten. It is inexplicably strange how you don't remember anything. Maybe the transition gave you a temporary amnesia? How peculiar, I suggest visiting doc after this." Tracy commented handing him a sheet of paper full of personal information such as is name and birthday and even included a death day. Then, Stacy handed him a phone and keys. "Ok so your number for the phone is in the portfolio I gave you and your room number is 666B, quite ironic really. You can just use that elevator there to head to your room. Your roommate can guide you from there because honestly I am so bloody tired and that bastard Ashton just dropped this shift on me like a bomb" Tracy groaned.
Calum studied the elevator and whipped his head back to Tracy, only to find that she had disappeared. He rubbed at his eyes and was decipher whether she was a mirage or not, however after pinching himself multiple times and feeling the flesh, he knew he was alive. Upon inspecting the elevator, which had opened itself as Calum approached it, and he entered the enclosed space in fret. The elevator walls were besmirched with graffiti and the enclosed surroundings made Calum feel claustrophobic and like an animal trapped in a cage. In less than a second, Calum found the doors of the elevator open to reveal a long corridor, bestrewed with beer cans and packs of cigarettes and what looked like underwear and puzzled Calum. It reminded him of a teenager's room, his suspicions grew when a herd of teens ran from one room to another, laughing obnoxiously with silly string and party poppers. Calum scrunched his nose up in disgust at the stench of sweat and unclean clothes circulating the atmosphere. He tiptoed through the mess and examined the area, noting how each door with its own room number, was decorated its own way for example one door had a frightening pattern of skulls on it whilst another owned mirrors stuck all over it with lipstick stains and pictures muscular boys on it, no doubt the dorm of a shallow individual. Calum's thought where jumbled up in a sea of chaos and he wanted nothing more than to find out what exactly was going on as he was still hung up on the fact that was some obviously some horrible prank. He stopped dead in his tracks when he read the numbers 666B. The door was adorned with inspirational quotes and flower crown were stapled around them. Calum was internally groaning, expecting some overly excited teenage girl to open the door and squeal. His assumptions where drastically proven wrong when a teenage boy opened the door and squealed, dragging Calum into the dorm. Pink was the only wat to describe the dorm, with its pink carpet and pink couches and pink curtains with hearts displayed upon them. The room depicted one of a dollhouse but oddly suited the tall boy in front of him, dressed in a pink tutu and white crop top. Calum raked the tall boy: his hair a light blonde planted in a quiff, ocean blue eyes glistening with joy and a lip ring positioned on his lip.
"Welcome Roommate! I'm Luke and oh my god I gave waited for you for so long!" He wailed dramatically and was practically jumping with excitement.
"Ok so your room is right down the hall opposite my room which is decorated with bows. Omg I am so happy you're here!" Luke once again squealed and ushered Calum to go explore the house.
As requested, Calum went to his room and found it was a small room with an intricate black and white design which was calming and pretty to Calum and even though he knew it was probably a prank and he wouldn't have to stay for long, he really liked the room.
"If you don't like it we can ask for the design to be changed." Luke chirped from behind him.
Calum twirled around to the blonde behind him. "Er, no it's cool. Hey listen, I know this is a prank and I really want to know why you are pranking me, judging by all the teens this is probably a school that has been changed to appear like this dorm so that you could all prank me right." Calum questioned with his arms folded.
Luke smiled warmly at Calum and let out a gentle laugh. "No silly, do you not know where you are? We're in the north part of the land of the forgotten, the teen side, so this is basically were all the dead forgotten teens go." Luke gestured around the room and again flashed a billion dollar smile. Luke radiated a cheerful aura which sickened Calum due to the fact that he was annoyed at how clueless and lost he felt.
"So you're telling me that I am actually trapped in a land called 'the land of the forgotten' and I am actually stuck in this dorm with you?" Calum chocked.
Luke's smile faltered at the last statement but was quickly adjusted to the usual smile and he eagerly nodded. "Yep! But don't worry its really fun here, you can literally do whatever you want which can be both a good and bad thing. Somethings you should know, there is a party every day and so there is a loads of noise all the time and people here are savages as hell so be prepared for drugs, drinking etcetera. Some people here are worse than other, but you will never be bored here as there's loads of activities. If you look in your phone, there is an app which has a car icon, on it has all the places you can go to and all you do is press the desired location and bam it brings you wherever you want to go. "
Calum was frozen like a statue, with his mouth wide open as his brain tried to adjust to all the new information. He could not believe it; it was highly unlikely that Calum was actually dead and in a land of the forgotten which he guessed was a place where all the people who were forgotten by living people transferred to after death. He raked his mind for any sort of memories that could indicate to him how he got here and who his family and friends were, although all he could remember was waking up in the middle of nowhere. So many questions were left unanswered and Calum wanted desperately to know them though he was already finding it hard to digest what Luke said and felt as if any more news would cause him a major heart attack. In the time that Calum had zoned out, Luke had made him tea and gave him a much appreciated side. Even though this all felt weird to Calum he had to admit, he was glad to have him as a roommate.
