Overview or preview or background or whatever.
"Charlie? Charlie Fisher?!" Meet Charlie Fisher. He's your average popular guy. You know the guy that's super smart, super attractive with the bright blue eyes and side swept sandy brown hair. Has girls drooling over him and just so happens to be the quarter back on the football team. Yep that's him.
"Oh, um, Sam right?" Meet Sam Prescott. She's your average, well, she's average. She has dark brown wavy hair with a pair of green eyes. She's smart but deffinately has to work for an A. Doesn't have guys drooling over her. Athletic enough to catch and throw a ball but deffinately not something she would do for fun.
These two people seem very different, right? So how are they connected?
Sam Prescott and Charlie Fisher were best friends.
Emphasis on the "were".
So what happened?
To answer that question we need to go back a few years, like, 10.

"Sammy!! Sammy!!" Charlie cheered as he waited out side her house.
"Charlie! I'm coming! I'm coming!" She yelled, grinning with her purple back pack i hand. She jumped down from the step stool at the counter and stuffed the last apple into her back pack ad zipped it up.
"Where are you going?" Sammy's mom asked smiling.
"Charlie is here!" Sammy said bouncing on her heals.
Almost immediately the grim from Sammy's moms face dropped but she replaced it with a fake smile before Sammy could notice.
"Well, have fun sweet heart," she said as she kissed Sammy's head "and be safe!"
"I will! Love you mommy!" Sammy called as she ran to go meet Charlie outfront.
"Love you too." She said as Sammy waved before shutting the door.
She watched as the too kids met and started walking down the street probably to the near by park. She sighed and went back to doing the laundry.
Outside the two kids continued to walk down the street. Aimlessly chatting about their new favorite colors of the week, what colors they would be if they were a butterfly, how Sammy's dog Rufus had got Into a birds nest, and other silly things untill they got to the park.
Once they got to the park the played on the play sets, ran around and played tag, hide and seek, and eventually both ended up sitting on the swings.
'Honk 'honk
"Charlie, it's time to go!" Charlie's mother shouted out out of the van.
Sammy's mom walking around the van started chatting with Charlie's mom.
"Do you have to go, Charlie?" Sammy asked.
"I guess so." He replied.
"Come on Charlie! Lets go!" Charlie's mom called from the moving van.
"Coming mommy!" Charlie called as he got up from his swing and started walking twards the van.
"Oh! Wait! Charlie!" Sammy yelled. She dug through her purple backpack trying to get what she was looking for. Eventually she found the envelope with the name Charlie on it scrawled in blue crayon. Sammy zipped up her back pack and ran to meet Charlie before he got to the parents.
"This is for you!"Sammy exclaimed handing the envelope to Charlie.
"Oh cool. What is it?" Charlie asked.
"It's a letter but you can't open it till you get to your new house! But my adress is in there too so you can send me letters too!" Sammy explained.
Charlie smiled. "Thanks Sammy!"
"You promise you won't open the letter till you get to your new house?" Sammy asked.
"Promise."
"And you PINKY promise that you'll send me letters?" Sammy asked extending her right pinky twards Charlie.
"I pinky promise!" Charlie swore taking Sammy's pinky in his.
"Come on Charlie lets go!" Charlie's mom called.
"Coming!" He called finally running to the can and getting in the back seats. The two moms had stopped talking when Charlie's door closed.
"Alright Charlie," Charlie's mom said rolling down Charlie's window "say good bye to Sammy."
"Bye Sammy!!" Charlie called as the van pulled away.
"Bye Charlie!!" Sammy called back.
