I told myself that I wasn't going to cry when the day of the funeral came, but of course my words back fired on me.

I kept my composure up until I found myself choking on the lyrics to the song I was asked to sing. Grammy's sister was originally scheduled to sing the song 'Don't Cry For Me' by CeCe Winans, but she ended up being stuck in traffic.

Claire thought it would be pretty nice for me to sing it since I knew the words, and could also sing well. I must say that I have a pretty nice voice, but my nerves get the best of me. The only person who has ever heard me sing before is Claire - but I guess all of that changed today.

Every now and then, a few tears escaped my eyes when I sang an emotional part of the song - but for the first half of the song, I think I did a pretty good job. My nerves we're slowly beginning to calm down, and I became more comfortable with being in front of the crowd.

But all of that changed towards the end of the song. Jermaine walk through the front door of the church, and my nerves instantly picked up again.

What was he doing here?

As I sang the last line of the song, I let out a quiet sigh of relief, and wiped away my face full of tears - that I didn't even notice was there. The church kindly clapped for me, as I made my way back to my seat.

Once back at my seat, Claire apologized for putting me on the spot, and I kindly accepted her apology. I was honestly happy to be singing a song that I loved for Grammy. I just wish I didn't have a face full of tears while doing so.

"Chris I didn't know you could sing like that!"

I looked up from my fingernails that I was busy fiddling with - to see Jermaine approaching me. I sat by myself - far off from everyone who were too busy watching Grammy get lowered down into the ground. I personally couldn't watch, so I decided to have some alone time.

"Yeah," I half chuckled. "I don't really like singing in front of people."

"Why not?" he asked as he took a seat in the chair that sat next to me.

"Nerves I guess," I shrugged as I continued to fiddle with my fingernails. There was a long silence as I felt Jermaine eyes studying me.

"Well what you did was really brave. I'm pretty sure she's proud of you Christina," he finally spoke.

"I sure hope so." I sighed. "Can I ask you something?"

"Sure. What ever is on your mind."

"How did you even come to the funeral? Didn't Claire give you a hard time?"

"Surprisingly, no. I'm guessing she had a change of heart. She called me this morning to let me know that I still technically had a right of coming - so I did."

"Oh. That's weird of her. That doesn't sound like something Claire would do."

"Why do you say that?"

"Jermaine, I mean she's be acting really nice to everyone lately. That isn't like her."

"True. Maybe her husband been giving her more of the 'D' lately," he smiled.

"I can never have a serious conversation with you," I laughed as I playfully pushed him out of his chair.

"You should know by now that I'm not a very serious person," he laughed. "I love hearing you laugh."

There was a moment of silence as Jermaine pinched my cheek and smiled. He knew that I absolutely hated my laugh. No matter how hard I tried, I could never control the embarrassing laugh that I have.
