Chapter 1. Planning

I sat across from my Aunt Alice. She was smiling despite the pain I was giving her. Aunt Alice was still not used to leaving the house when she wanted to see into the future. After one hundred plus years, I thought she would have a better attitude about changing her ways. She was now talking to my Aunt Rosalie about our move that was coming up. We were having a discussion about where to move. I was the only vampire in my family who could go out in the daylight, so I was trying to imagine our big family in the small towns that my family insisted on moving to. Aunt Rosalie smiled at me with her beautiful loving smile.

"Maybe we should give Kauai, Hawaii, a chance." Aunt Rosalie looked at Aunt Alice with a worried glance.

"Hawaii is beautiful, but we will stick out like sore thumbs with our pale skin," Alice shook her head. She had been making excuses for every town that Rosalie and I mentioned. She did have a good point to fan away some of my ideas. I was new at planning.

"Henderson Lake in Canada is beautiful," Uncle Jasper's voice came from upstairs.

"Henderson Lake?" Aunt Alice asked. Uncle Jasper was suddenly standing behind my chair.

"Yeah," Uncle Jasper nodded. "Plenty of rain, hardly ever sunny, Nessie would fit right in with the kids who attend a local school there."

"I still like Hawaii," I mumbled to myself.

"Mount Waialeale gets about 335 days of rain each year, Alice," Jasper explained. "Nessie, would have opportunities to surf, and be whoever she wanted to be." Jasper squeezed me left shoulder, I grabbed his hand and sent him a mental message of thanks. I could feel as Uncle Jasper tried to put a settling mood over Aunt Alice.

"I will have to talk to Carasile." Alice nodded, and walked gracefully out of the room. I smiled at Aunt Rosalie.

"Granddad said you guys were planning a new family plan this year." I looked at Aunt Rosalie with a nervous look. "He said we were going at separate times so that we would look like two different families." I could feel my voice shaking.

"We think it will be easier if people look at us as two families instead of one big foster family." Rosalie shook her head. Going as two families. That meant Carasile was probably going to take Rosalie, Jasper, and Edward with him. Rosalie and Jasper would probably pose as twins, Carasile the father, Edward his son. Grandma Esme would most likely take Emmett, Alice, Momma, and me. Who knew where Jacob would go with his pack. Our family was very dependent on their mates. It was as if they all circled around one another. Knowing they would have to live without each other for a few weeks was like death. I understood their love. I respected their love.

Right now we were currently in the house I was born in. We had moved around a few times, but we always traveled here when we were deciding where to move again. This was like our safe house. The small cottage in the woods was nearby, but my parents loved coming  to my grandparents house alot. I understood why. This was their home, too.

A few hours later, there was a knock on the door. I was surprised that Jacob even bothered to knock anymore. Uncle Emmett beat me to the door, smiling as he swung me onto his shoulders. Emmett opened the door and smiled big. Jacob rolled his eyes walked past Uncle Emmett. Jacob was only wearing his pants; which was normal. I pinched Uncle Emmett's neck, mentally telling him to let me go. Instead he shook his head. I kissed his hair, and he let me slip to the ground.

"That's not nice to intemidate," Jacob said, playfully punching Uncle Emmett.

"I could do worse," Uncle Emmett shrugged and headed outside.

"So, what have you done today, Ness?" Jacob asked, moving closer to me.

"Planned all day," I rolled my eyes.

"Wanna go to the beach? It might get your mind off things," Jacob nodded over his shoulder in the direction of the door.

"Sure," I said. Jacob playfully put his arm around my shoulders.

"I'll be right back," Jacob sprinted out of the door. I waited a second, then I heard a loud bark. I ran outside to see Jacob in wolf form. I walked over to his and put my hand on his nose. "Race?" I asked him mentally. He nodded. I smiled and let go of his nose. Then I began running at full speed. I could fell Jacob right behind me. I laughed, and Jacob made a laughing bark. Jacob made me feel special in a way that no other person, or creature, could.
