In the club

"I like your idea," Arjun said and looked at me. His big dark brown eyes were like saying something to me. I looked into his hypnotizing eyes and we held gaze for at least five seconds before I pulled myself out of its grip. I gasped and continued with the presentation. I switched to the next slide. As I spoke I caught him staring at me. Well, I wasn't sure he was staring at me. May be we just happened to look at each other at the same time.

He didn't show indications of liking me but he sometimes acted like he did. He had this gentle voice though when he asked me how I was doing. But he asked others that too. It wasn't like I was expecting something to happen between us. I was just curious.

"I have no intentions to get with Arjun or anything like that. I am only curious. Why does he act like he likes me but just does not want to show it?" I asked Eva when I met her outside after the meeting. I might be jumping to conclusions but the curiosity was killing me.

"Well...why shouldn't he like you? You are a young, attractive, pretty lady. And there is nothing wrong with liking someone but make sure, you keep it always on a professional level, or else it can affect the business deal!"

Her words made me blush. "I don't intend to go beyond a little flirting either. I love Mohit and would never play on the side," I said.

"If he should go a step further then you must right away put him in his place. Explain him that you wish to be respected as a colleague and have no interest in any liaison at the job."

"I guess you are right." I appreciated her suggestion.

"So, what's the plan for today?" Eva asked, changing the subject. "Wanna go clubbing?"

"Why not? I want to see how you people party." I said with a grin.

"Alright," she said. "Then put on your dancing shoes, let your hair down, and get ready to be bowled over!"

I chuckled.

Sofia was the place to be in Houston on a Friday night. I could hear the muffled sound of the music thumping inside the club from where we stood. As we walked in, the music abruptly got louder, and clearer. The club was enormous and expensively designed for wild partying. It was a typical Friday night inside. The music was pounding, the booze was flowing, and the place was packed. Strobe lights were flashing and there seemed to be a bit of a fog round everyone's feet as they danced to the music. DJ got the energy moving, and your fellow clubbers ensured that there's plenty to see along the way. The song everyone was dancing to was about a guy and a girl wanting to cheat on their lovers and have a one night stand.

"I hate this song," I said as we passed a couple that was grinding their bodies up against each other.

"Don't worry about the songs. Just go with the rhythm. Giving yourself over to the rhythms, the lights, and the energy is a total release. Whenever I want that feeling, I head to the club." Eva said.

From the moment we walked in, Eva was like the queen of Houston making her way through the crowd. She waved at familiar faces, grabbed hot young guys as we passed them, and slipped each of them a kiss to go with the greetings, or she smiled at people she didn't recognized. Yet they knew her. I, on the other hand, simply smiled at everyone.

A guy walked in, laughing and smiling,  a short time after we had gotten there. Eva seemed to know and like him. What wasn't there to like? He had to be the cutest of all the men I had seen in Houston so far. Hugs and kisses were exchanged, hands were shaken, and the backs were slapped as the alluring stranger made his way around the table. He was at least six-foot-three with a slightly muscular swimmer's build, and he was gorgeous. I tried not to stare at him, but I couldn't help it.
