I woke up to the rattling of my phone vibrating on my bedside table. As I sat up in my bed and reached over to grab the source of illumination in my dark room while wiping sleep from my eyes, I checked the clock and the time read 3:47 a.m.
'Who could be calling me this early?', I thought to myself.
The caller ID read, 'Liam', and as I answered the incoming call and pressed the phone to my ear I grunted still in my half sleep stage, "Can I help you with something? It's almost four in the morning!".
"I know, I know babe, but don't be mad at me when I ask you this, can you be ready in fifteen minutes? I want to take you somewhere." he spoke.
Astonished by his unusual request I began to deny him, "But it's so early and-"
He cut me off, "Just please get dressed and meet me outside your house in fifteen, okay? Please Gab? For me?", his voice was soft and calm and I could hear his puppy voice.
He knows that I can't resist him when he speaks with his puppy voice and I could imagine him making his pouty face with his lip pushed out.
Knowing that it had to be important if he was calling me at this hour I agreed to be ready and we ended the call.
I stood up and walked over to turn the lamp on which was sitting in the corner of my room and then turned to the bathroom to freshen myself. I cleaned my teeth and brushed out the night's tangles from my hair and didn't bother with makeup because it was simply too early for any of that.
I turned off the light in the bathroom and crossed my room to reach my dresser. I pulled out sweatpants and a hoodie and changed from my pj pants and t-shirt into fresh clothes.
I checked my phone to see if my fifteen minutes were up and the time was nearing four o'clock so I figured I should go downstairs and await Liam's arrival.
The sun still hadn't come up when I was waiting outside in the cool, summer night's weather for Liam to arrive. In about five minutes of waiting, he pulled up to the curb on which I was standing.
He rolled down the window and said in a deep and mischievous tone, "Hey baby, need a ride?".
"My mommy and daddy said I shouldn't talk to strangers." I replied in a childish, joking tone.
"Good thing I'm not a stranger! Now get in babe, we have somewhere to be!", he said, his voice revealing excitement.
I opened the car door and got in. I was fastening my seat belt when I heard him say, "You're really going to like this."
"And what exactly am I going to like?"
"Well I can't tell you! Its a surprise. You'll just have to be patient love.", he reached over and placed his hand on my thigh.
"Maybe I don't want to be patient. You woke me before the sun even rose and you want me to be patient?", I claimed as my voice rose. I couldn't help being agitated, I wasn't exactly a morning person.
"Gab, babe, it's worth being patient for.", he leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on my lips.
"Okay, I'll be patient if I can get more of that.", I settled.
"Sounds good with me. But first things first, your surprise.", he said as he put the vehicle in drive and pulled away from my house.
We were driving for about twenty minutes before he pulled off of the main street into a small road leading into the surrounding forest.
"Liam, where are we?", I questioned.
"You'll see.", he replied, only making my curiosity grow.
