Love in the rain

CHAPTER 1

      'Great'. Alec thought.'Just great'. As he looked up into the sky, he saw a dark, grey-colored cloud corrupting the purity of the sky,covering the ground below with a dark shadowy veil,frightening the visitors at the park with the thought of returning home in drenched clothes. He thought to himself,everyone else  had already returned home and yet here he was standing in front of a stream of shallow waters, sending the object below his icy glare. He should have known this would happen to him. His long-time companion,Church,gazed up to him with a pleading look asking him to pick the object from the river.He sighed as he recalled the event of the past ten minutes.

       Alec was walking Church to a nearby park as the dog practically begged him for a walk everytime he came back from school. Leaping at him at every chance he got and licking every part of his face covering it with thick,gooey saliva. he soon caved in to the poor dog's wishes and took him to a nearby park that was only a ten minutes walk from his house. The moment he reached the entrance of the park, Church practically leapt with joy as it ran in the park aimlessly. Too slow to hold onto the leash, Alec soon found that he had lost Church. Panic soon took over him as he seached furiously for his furry companion. He searched and searched and searched but he failed. As soon as he was about to give up, he felt a tug at his jeans. He looked down and was staring directly at the familiar dull grey colour of Church's eyes. He knew in an instant that his friend had found him. Relief swept him off his feet as he picked the furry creature up and held it near his chest. Tears welled up in his eyes, covering his blue eyes that shone like moonlight sky.He smiled as Church licked his face.Embracing the warmth that emitted from the little puppy.

         He was soon pulled away from the warmth as Church leaped away from his embrace and ran towards the river. Curious as he was, he followed the eager puppy only to be staring directly at a bone in a nearby river.

         Here he was now, staring angrily at the bone as it was the main reason he could not go home and enjoy a cup of hot coffee but was instead out here in the rain as Church wouldn't move from it's spot as he was staring directly at the bone. Now in his mind, Alec had two options. The first was to leave the puppy in the park,out in the pouring rain as he made his way home. The second was to caved into the dog's desires and pick the bone from the river. He sighed as he picked the latter since he did not have the heart to leave Church out here in the rain. He bent slowly as he edged towards the river. Cautiously as he didn't want to return home soaking wet . He was so close to grabbing the bone , when suddenly he stepped onto an uneven rock that crumbled the moment he stepped on it. Falling face-front into the river, he closed his eyes as he accepted the cruel reality that he would return home soaking from head to toe.

         But never did he hear of the splashes of water or the feeling of water droplets falling from his skin intead he only felt big muscular hands incircling his waist as they pulled him to safety. His head suddenly collied with a broad chest that held the steady heartbeat that smoothen his rapid heartbeat. The hand tighten around him, held him like he was a porcelain doll. Strong but gentle at the same time.

        Wondering who he was , he gathered his courage to looked up at the man that had saved him. Only to be met with eyes that shone like diamonds themselves. Topaz eyes with a hint of green in it, reflecting the gentleness he looked at the boy like he was love himself.

 " Are you alright ?", the man said.

 " Y-yeah. Thank you for saving me". Alec replied softly while suddenly cursing himself for stuttering. Why was he so flustered he wondered.

"You are welcome, besides it's a duty of a gentlemen to help a damsel in distress'',replied the man calmly.

"A damsel? But I am a man." retorted Alec annoyed.

The man smiled as he shrugged and said " It was just a figure of speech."

 A faint blush creeped up to Alec's cheeks as he saw the man's gorgeous smile.

"Sorry."

"No need to be but if you want how about...."

        The man was interrupted by a cat who was screetching as it was fighting with Church. Hissing and lifting it's paws as it scratched the air. Church growled backed at the cat as a sign of not being intimidated by it's actions . Bearing it's mighty fangs that would rip the feline apart. 

       The hissing and barking soon stopped as he picked the cat up with a frown. " Chairman Meow. Didn't I tell you to behave when we were in public.", shouted the man. The cat mewled disapprovingly as he turned it's head away from it's owner and continued to hiss at the dog. The man sighed as he turned back to looked at Alec.

" I'm so sorry for my cat's rude behavior. he can be such a prick sometimes."

At the mention of the comment towards it's behavior, the cat turned back to give the man one of it's death glares.

" It is ok.", replied Alec nonchalantly.

" So as I was saying ... The man paused . "How about a cup of coffee sometime?It would be great if I knew you better. I feel like we could become closer.

     There was a silent pause. Alec's brain opted a billion miles. He only knew this man for ten minutes but he was already asking to go out with him. He struggled to properly give an answer, he replied " I think I would like that." 

"Cool.It's a date,then", the man replied as he got closer to Alec until they were a breath away and scribbled something on his hand before kissing him on the cheek.

" Call me sometime! Maybe we could hangout together!" the man shouted to him as they parted.

      Alec was left standing stunned but a smile appeared on his face as he picked Church up and made his way home. Wondering about what would happen in the future with that man. Then he realised that he never got the man's name. 'Oh well'. Alec thought. He was going to knew in due time.
