Stonestar's Story

Chapter 2

Stonepaw padded through the forest smiling brightly. She followed Ferntail to a clearing.
"Alright let's begin training." Feathertail said sitting down.
"Hi Stonepaw!" A voice called from the forest. Featherpaw padded through the bushes followed by his ment or. Scartail sat down beside Ferntail. Ferntail mumbled something to Scartail and the tom nodded. Ferntail smiled and turned her gaze to the new apprentices.
"Alright, Scartail and I have decided to let you two train together." Ferntail said smiling.
"Ok!" Featherpaw said excitedly. Stonepaw smiled.
"Alright let's begin our training. We'll start with battle training. Make sure your claws are sheathed." Scartail said smiling. Stonepaw nodded and got into her battle stance. Featherpaw did the same. Stonepaw lunged at Featherpaw and tackled him. Featherpaw kicked at Stonepaw's underbelly. Stonepaw reared out of the way of his kicks and pinned him. Featherpaw threw off Stonepaw and lunged at her. Stonepaw dodged and pinned him again. Featherpaw hissed. "Great job Stonepaw!" Scartail complemented her. Stonepaw unpinned Featherpaw and padded towards Ferntail, smiling triumphantly. Featherpaw sighed and sat up.
"That was great for your first time Stonepaw." Ferntail said smiling.
"Thank you." Stonepaw said smiling. Fawnstar came out of the bushes followed by two other warriors and an apprentice. Stonepaw's pelt prickled with excitment. "May I go with the hunting group?" She asked excitedly. Fawnstar looked over and smiled. Ferntail shrugged.
"If it's okay with Fawnstar." Ferntail said.
Fawnstar smiled and nodded. She continued to pad through the forest with her hunting party. Stonepaw smiled and followed the group.
"Can I go too?" Featherpaw asked. Scartail nodded. Featherpaw smiled and ran away to join Stonepaw. Fawnstar smiled at the two apprentices.
"Alright, see if you can find prey." Fawnstar said. The warriors nodded and branched out. Stonepaw nodded and sniffed the air. She saw a mouse and smiled.
Yes! My first prey spotted! She thought smiling. She bounded into the bushes. The mouses ears twitched. Stonepaw was sure she wasn't seen. Stonepaw lunged at the mouse but instead of catching the small animal Stonepaw hit her head mid-air. Once she recovered Stonepaw looked up to see an unfamiliar apprentice she-cat. Stonefur growled at the apprentice.
"Fawnstar! An intruder is trying to steal prey! Hurry!" She called. Stonepaw tackled the intruder hissing. The apprentice hissed. Fawnstar came through the brush followed by the other warriors, Featherpaw, and the other apprentice.
"I've seen this cat before... this is the apprentice Ravenpaw from Snow Clan." Fawnstar said, eyes narrowed at the young apprentice. "What are you doing here Ravenpaw?" The she-cat hissed.
"Well I was catching prey for my clan." The Apprentice snapped.
"On our territory?" Stonepaw growled. More warriors came through the brush
"Well Sor-ee! You should renew your markings!" Ravenpaw hissed storming off back to Snow Clan territory. The other warriors hissed at Fawnstar.
"If your cats weren't so incompetent Ravenpaw might have caught that mouse." A white she-cat hissed.
"If your cats paid attention to our territory markings she might have not been stealing prey." Feathepaw snapped back. The cats rolled their eyes and followed Ravenpaw.
"It's getting dark... we should be getting back to camp." Fawnsatr said turning around.
"Aren't you going to confront their leader?" One of the warriors asked.
"No..." Fawnstar said not looking back.
"But..."
"I said no! I'll talk to Birchstar at the Gathering tomorrow." Fawnstar said and padded back to camp. The warrior sighed and followed. Featherpaw walked beside of Stonepaw followed by the other warriors and the apprentice.
"Are you excited for the Gathering?" Featherpaw asked? Stonepaw nodded. They entered the camp. Stonepaw yawned and padded towards the apprentice den. She walked to her nest and fell asleep, excited for tomorrow's Gathering.
