I rushed towards the door when I heard the doorbell. I opened the door and found Sally standing with a box of food, which I guess is donut.
"Oh Myra!!" She almost screamed and hugged me tight ..like really tight.
"Oh my god. You've lost so much weight. You can't even imagine how much I've you. You're the only one in this entire universe who knows me and understands me. Staying away from you for five years... Ahhh...The hardest five years of my life." She said with a sigh.
I hugged her. "I love you " I said.
"Love you too"
"Hey, look what I've got for you. Ta-daaa" she said opening the box of donut. "I know how much you love them."
I looked at her with no expression.
"What's wrong? You're not happy? Myra, I brought you donuts, the thing that you love the most after me. You're not smiling?" She asked shocked.
"I'm starving for two days not eating anything. All I'm doing is crying." I said letting a drop of tear roll down my cheeks.
"I'm so sorry babe....I'm so sorry for not being there for you when you needed me the most. I'm sorry for everything." She said hugging me.
"No Sal, it's not your fault. It's just my fate..." I said pulling back.
"Don't say that babe. Now that I'm here, I'll make sure everything is fine again. Everything will be alright just like before. Okay?" She asked wiping off my tears.
I nodded.
"Now eat some donut and get some sleep. You look sleepy and your eyes look red and puffy."
I nodded
I ate some donuts...They tasted like heaven. After that I went to sleep.
I heard the alarm clock ring loudly, literally blasting my eardrums.
I groaned. It was one at noon. I took a shower and changed into my favourite black t-shirt and black leggings.
I went to the kitchen and found Sally cooking something. "What are you doing Sal?" I asked even though I could clearly see what she was doing. "Making lunch for my bestie, and for me too." She said smiling. "Thanks Sal." I said. "I'm so glad to have you in my life..." I said. "B*tch, shut up. You're gonna make me cry." She said hugging me. We hugged for a good five minutes.
"Am I forgetting something?" Sal asked. "You are..." I said pointing at the spaghetti on the stove. She went back to cook while I sat down on one of the chairs.Sal was done cooking the spaghetti. She took two plates from the rack and served it on the plates.
"Smells great." I said
"Tastes even better." Sal said and I laughed.
We both were eating silently until I broke the silence. "Sooooo how many days are you gonna stay here?" I asked with my mouth filled with food.
"I'm leaving tomorrow." She said.
I looked at her sadly.
"Aww babe. Please don't be sad. I have so many things to deal with. You understand me right?"
Sal is right. She can't stay with me forever. She had her own family, her own jobs, her own problems to deal with.
I nodded.
"But I have a solution." She said.
"What solution?"
She got up and took out a piece of paper from her handbag.
She handed me the paper.
"Read it."
I read it. It was a job offer. A job as a maid.
"8,000 thousand dollar for a maid's job? You must be kidding me Sal?" I asked my jaw dropped.
"I'm not sweety." She said.
"So you want to do this job?" She asked.
"Of course...." I said.
"Great. I'll take you to the address for your interview and after that I'll leave." She said.
I nodded. I was happy about the job but knowing that Sal will be leaving tomorrow made me a little sad.
