It's five o'clock. He said he was coming later in the day, but by later I expected three or three thirty, maybe four. But I can't blame him, he just came back from his latest tour anyway.

Knock knock.

I placed my laptop on my nightstand and jumped out of bed, grin spreading across my face, obviously knowing who's at the door.

I opened the door to see those two bright blue eyes staring back at me. I basically threw myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck and his arms going around my waist, feeling his lips kissing the top of my head gingerly as I nuzzled my head into his chest. I looked up at him and placed my lips on his, biting his bottom lip gently.

We didn't realize that we were such a nuisance to other people in the hallway until a few guys walked by us and one of them said, "Get a room."

Connor looked him in the eyes and said, "That's the plan." He took my hand and lead me into my room, wiggling his eyebrows at the guy from down the hallway. I couldn't help but laugh at him as he shut the door behind us, him clearly proud of himself for being ever so clever.

We continued where we left off, me gripping onto his shirt tighter and tighter as we kissed longer and longer. Eventally, we pulled away and Connor said, "I have a surprise."

"Does this surprise include balloons and confetti?"

He laughed. "Not quite. Come with me to my car and you'll find out."

"Ooh, a journey? Is the surprise location somewhere that sells items that are edible?"

"We aren't driving anywhere, actually. And the item is not edible... Well, it is, but I don't think you would want to eat it."

"Interesting, interesting... Is this object solid?"

"Stop guessing and just come to the car," he ordered while he took my hand in his, opening the door and guiding me down the staircase towards the parking lot.

We escaped the building but before I could get to his car, he covered my eyes with his hands so the surprise could be hidden a few moments longer.

He directed me to his car and opened the car door, telling me to sit in what I assume was the passenger seat. I did as I was told and then he said, "Open your eyes and look behind you."

I whipped my head around to see my big Great Dane filling the entire back seat of Connor's car.

"Charles!" I got out of the car again and got Charles from the back seat, him jumping all over me. Connor smiled and took a picture of my obvious struggle to control my own dog. I glared at him but he just asked, "Are you happy?"

"Happy with the picture? No. Happy with having my dog? Of course," I replied. Charles started to calm down once I put his leash on him and gave him a proper amount of petting. "Thank you, Connor. I will pay for any damages he put in your car."

We both laughed and he said, "No problem. Charles is really well-behaved, don't worry about anything."

I continued to pet Charles and asked, "Do you mind if we took him for a walk?"

"I was actually hoping you would ask."

We began to stroll with Charles down the block and once again, I couldn't help but ask more questions.

"Why did you want to go on a walk with Charles?"

He shrugged. "It would be just like before. When I would go over your house and we would go everywhere with him. I remember walking down the street to get something from my neighbor for my dad and on my way there, I saw Mr. Thompson, the guy who lives on the corner, and he said 'it's strange not seeing you with that girl and the dog.' It made me realize how often we would walk Charles so I decided to bring him with me so we could walk him together."

I smiled at him.

"What?" he smiled back.

"You're such a softee!" I playfully nudged him.

He chuckled. "Yeah, I know. Can't help it-" he paused to allow a car drive by us with the driver jamming out to Lady Gaga. "I was born this way."

"Ha ha, you are SO funny. You should have went into comedy, not music," I said sarcastically.

"Yeah, bad choice on my part," he replied back, sarcasm clear in his voice.

After a few moments I leaned my head on his shoulder, gazing at the sunset down by the bay. We sat down on one of the benches when we finally reached the bay, and Connor leaned his head on mine.

"I love you, Claire," he suddenly said.

"I love you too," I replied.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

"With extra caramel on top?"

I smiled.

"With extra caramel on top."
