GUESS WHAT I'M DOING?
A SONGFIC.
BECAUSE I WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY, LOVIES.
AND THIS IS THE SECOND DAY OF CHRISTMAS.
Note: Song is 'Vindicated' by Dashboard Confessional. If you haven't heard it, look it up, it's really great. Kind of a one hit wonder, really, but the band is really good. In fact, if you (fading music nonsense)
Sebastian: Oh dear, we've lost her. Okay, well, here is this steaming pile of...well. Enj-
Ciel: It's shit, Sebastian.
Sebastian: You said it, young master. Not I.
Warnings: Nothing too bad, kiddos.
Either Winchester Imagine--Trace this moment
Hope dangles on a string
Like slow spinning redemption
Winding in and winding out
The shine of it has caught my eyeAnd roped me in
So mesmerizing, so hypnotizing
I am captivatedThe way she moved entranced him. Everything about her was perfecting. Simple, utter, perfection. The way she put her entire body into her laugh, the way her smile lit up a room, her smallest frown demanding consolation. To see such a gem anything less than happy would be a complete sin, and no act of good will could bring you redemption. Her obvious imperfections added to the entire scene, wherever she was, you would know it was her. She was simply...that way.
I am Vindicated
I am selfish
I am wrong
I am right
I swear I'm right
I swear I knew it all along
And I am flawed
But I am cleaning up so well
I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourselfIt was true, when she left him. He was trash. He was nothing without her, and nothing with her. He didn't notice--and how couldn't he notice--that he was standing right beside a beacon of hope? His self-loathing habits were destroying her, and them, and everything that she had worked to build for the two of them. No matter what his past was, or what his future was, in this moment he was in love with the girl with the extremely obnoxious sneeze. The girl who sometimes choked on air, and tripped on even less. The girl who looked at him like he was the sun itself, and he was too bright for her to stand. He saw it, if even just for a second. He saw the love she had for him, and surprised him when it equaled the love he felt for her.
So clear
Like the diamond in your ring
Cut to mirror your intentions
Oversized and overwhelmed
The shine of which has caught my eye
And rendered me so isolated, so motivated
I am certain nowMarriage was never what he had planned on.
When he came to her, that day, after exactly ninety-three days apart, with absolutely no contact, he had expected to hold her close and kiss her deeply.
Instead, he dropped on one knee.
It wasn't as though he regretted it, not for any reason you would first think. He wanted to marry her, he wanted her to be his and his forever. He had just never expected himself to be so...Selfish.
He was the kind of man whose...reputation...endangered any and all near him. If they knew what he felt for her before...the engagement ring would not only cement every suspicion but put a neon target on her back. Damn, though, was she beautiful. The perfect size, the perfect shape, the perfect temperament to his fire. He craved her attention, company, everything. She was a drug with no side effects, a high with no pain. Every doubt he had, though, slid away whenever he thought of her being bound to him so reversibly irreversibly.
So turn
Up the corners of your lips
Part them and feel my finger tips
Trace the moment, fall forever
Defense is paper thin
Just one touch and I'd be in
Too deep now to ever swim against the current
So let me slip away
So let me slip against the current
So let me slip awayIt had been forever, since it happened. Since they were perfected. It was never, ever a fairytale. She wasn't a prince, she was a dork. He wasn't a prince, he was a soldier. He fought back the peeling corners of the world, holding the paper facade over the evil behind every inch of the page. She watched him as he did this out of sight, certainly, never out of mind. There were periods of time in which the coroner shook his head, and wrung his hands, and the pine box committed him to earth. In these periods of time, she lost herself entirely, yet not.
Because she was still there when he got back.
Because she was standing tall, which made the collapse into one another so much sweeter.
He never once marveled at this, even for a second. Because no matter who she was, or what she would do, she was a Winchester. Not by law, by family. Because family don't end in blood. Because they were ugly, and broken, and strange, and dirty. And they were hopelessly, suffocatingly in love.
