It had been ten days since Sam went missing and Dean was a mess. Sam not being there was tearing him to pieces. His occasional one beer had turned into almost a routine, every night one beer.
What if Sam is gone forever, and it's all my fault. Thought Dean. He then thought to himself, Wait a minute Dean, think. If Sammy has been gone for ten days, then that means it has been ten days of you grieving and sitting around like a couch potato missing him. If you really want to find him, you would have done it by now.
