Chapter 5 - Sorry

Right as I rounded a corner, Dipper nearly bumped into me as I saw Mabel running away from us.

"Do you have any idea what you just did?!" He asked, clearly stressed out.

"I... Wha?..." I was completely confused. Dipper sighed.

"Look, I think that you should go and hunt Mabel down. I know that nothing I will say will help her..." He said. I nodded.

"Okay."

I had no idea why Mabel had just run away like that... Was it something I did?...

I bet that everyone must've thought that I have given up on trying to find Mabel. I refused to. I will never give up on Mabel. But that doesn't mean that my hopes will never be brought down.

I felt that my hopes were being brought down again until I heard quiet sobs coming from the girl's restroom. That has to be Mabel. But I have to go in the girls' bathroom... I shook my head. It's for Mabel!

After making sure that nobody's watching, I quickly entered the girl's restroom. Since I was so used to locking the door every time I enter the bathroom, I unintentionally locked the door out of habit.

"Mabel...?" I softly called out. The only response was a sniffle from a closed stall at the back of the bathroom.

I walked over and gently knocked on it.

"Mabel can you come out? I... I need to tell you something..." Still no response. "Mabel, please!" I pleaded. Still no answer. I sighed and sat on the floor so I leaned against one of the stall's pilasters.

I don't care if Mike wants to talk to me. Why can't everyone just leave me alone?... I sighed and leaned my head on the wall. Just leave me alone...

"You gotta go and get angry at all of my honesty..." I glanced up, blushing. Is he... singing to me?

Gosh, I bet my voice sounds terrible...

I continued to sing to her.

"You know I try but don't do too well with apologies...
I hope I don't run out of time, could someone call a referee?...
Cuz I just need one more shot at forgiveness..."

I felt myself blush as I continued.

"I know you know that I made those mistakes maybe once or twice...
And by once or twice I mean maybe a couple of hundred times..."

Darn it. This isn't really helping...

"So let me, oh let me redeem oh redeem oh myself today...
Cuz I just need one more shot at second chances..."

I sighed. Here we go...

"Is it too late now to say sorry?
Cuz I'm missing more than just your personality...

I paused for air.

"I'll take every single piece of the blame, if you want me to...
But you know that there is no innocent one in this game for two...
I'll go I'll go and then you go you go out and spill the truth...
Can we both say the words, and forget this?..."

  I swallowed and blinked away a tear.

"Is it too late now to say sorry?...

I blinked away more tears.

"I just need you to be back here with me...

I feel like a sobbing mess.

"I'm sorry...
Yeah I know that I let you down

My singing is starting to sound like sobbing now...

"I'm sorry...

I turn to the sound of the bathroom stall unlocking and I stand up. Mabel walked out.

"I forgive you," She smiled. I felt like the happiest boy alive. She held out her arms.

"Awkward forgiveness hug?" I blushed and hugged her. Just as I thought that it couldn't get any better, she lightly kissed my cheek. We pulled away and Mabel giggled when she saw my face.

"You look like a cute lil tomato!" I looked in a mirror. Sure enough, my face was red from blushing.

"C'mon, Dipper's waiting for us!" Mabel said. I unlocked the door and Mabel and I held hands as we walked back to her table.
