Moonlight's kiss (Prologue)

" Way back after dinosaurs walked the earth, there were various villages of humans all around the world. The moon was their goddess and she watched over them lovingly. There was a force greater than her, the god of everything. He watched over all the planets and all the creatures of the earth. He loved all of the humans so much that he could never violate their free will, so he wouldn't interfere with their lives. "

" The moon however, longed to be nearer to them, so she sent her moonlight to earth and transformed into a women made up of pure lunar energy. Her body was still the bright orb in the sky but her consciousness resided in her new human body. "

" She spent years just observing her people and rarely interacting with them. Sometimes she would protect them from the shadows and used her power to bring peace to them. She loved being amongst them but the longer she lived in this human form, the more she became like them. She was slowly forgetting who she was and was developing human emotions. "

"During the first dynasty of ancient egypt. One day she stumbled upon a man who was dying from starvation and restored him back to health with her power. She was oddly drawn to this man in a way that confused her. This feeling caused her to hesitate before running away and he was able to catch a glimpse of her. "

" This was the most beautiful captivating woman he had ever seen. His heart was pounding and although his health had been restored he couldn't even stand at the sight of her. Her skin was almost glowing and her hair was the strangest shade of pale blue. As soon as he caught his breath he chased after her. "

"The man lightly touched her shoulder and she slung around. He was so startled by her eyes he couldn't speak. It was as if he could see the entire universe through her captivating gaze. She demanded that he speak. He told her she was the most beautiful woman her had ever been in the presence of and they instantly fell in love. The human emotions she had been struggling to repress came rushing forward all at once and without another word she kissed him. A wave of energy passed through him and he began to glow. A kiss from the moon made him immortal. "

" Several years later the couple had a home during the renaissance period. The moon was 8 months pregnant with twins. She had now almost completely forgetten who she was, so it was a suprise to her when her children were not normal human babies. The towns people also realised the the children were strange. They would glow and had the ability to levitiate objects."

"One night, a group of people got together and raged about the demon children. Their fear of the unknown turned to hatred. The next day The moon awoke in horror to one of her infant sons nailed to a wall blood seeping from his lifeless body. She screamed through her unending tears telling her husband to take their son and leave immediately. Before he could ask why, her cries stopped abruptly and her body began to rise onto the sky. He reluctantly fled with the baby."

"The towns people began to gather around at the sight of her floating in the air. light was beaming from her eyes and the tips of her fingers. She lifted her arms and brought the ocean down upon the entire town, drowning every living being and destroying every building. The God of everything looked down on her in disgust. As punishment for her actions he sent her back to her original body where she would never be able to interfere with another human's life again. "

" The years went on and the man raised the child in hiding. Because the moon was no longer on earth he lost his immortality and eventually died of old age. The child went on and found his soulmate and after their first kiss he stopped ageing. throughout the years he had multiple children with multiple wives and all of them had unique abilities, but they could only achieve immortality if they shared a kiss with their soulmate, because of this they became known as the agapi. The latin word for love."

"As his children had children and their children had children their species grew and so did fear amongst humans. The humans created an organization called "Dawn Rising". Over the ages they grew in numbers and started kidnaping Agapi so they could torture them and learn their weaknesses.After years of passing down ignorant hate for the agapi people they were deemed evil by the general population, so the agapi went into hiding."

"After they seemingly disappeared, the rest of the world knew of their existence but only in stories of evil beings like vampires, werewolves, and witches. This wasn't enough for Dawn Rising.They want to exterminate the agapi, so they continue to hunt them to this day. The saddest part is that the moon must watch all of her children being tortured and slaughtered and she can't do anything about it but offer them the power of her light".

Saunder closed the old book and lifted himself off the bed. I pulled my blanket over my head, "I really don't like that story, please don't read it to me again. It's too scary". Saunder began to say something but closed his mouth and nodded in agreement. "Alright, so maybe reading it to you before bed wasn't the best time". He walked up the basement stairs and opened the door. "Goodnight Saunder!" I yelled up to him. "Goodnight little Milah" echoed down into the room as he switched off the light.
