"Daddy , I had a great summer with you" I told my dad as I watched him work on my nails. Yes , my dad was doing my nails. He's Asian and does a lot of creative work. I allowed him to do my nails , and last time he did them , he did not disappoint me.

He glanced up at me and smiled. "I had a wonderful time with you too Kiana. Promise you'll come visit me" He said looking in my eyes. I smiled. "Of course I will dad. If mom will fly me out here" I said with a bit of annoyance in my voice.

See , my mom and dad are divorced. It hurts me because most of the time they want me to pick between them. I don't want either of them to be hurt at my decision. They always talk BAD about each other and it hurts ...

"And .. we are .. done!" My dad said as he smiled at my nails. They were tribal print. "They are beautiful!" I said admiring them. He smiled. "In 10 minutes , go pack" He said as he walked away.

Maybe 20 minutes later , I went to go pack. I threw stuff in my bag that I wanted home with me. I left some stuff here because i'm most likely coming back again. After I was done packing , I threw my red converse on and went downstairs. My dad was on the phone arguing. Wanna bet it's my mom?

"Cassandra .. you have to pick her up from the airport!" He said angrily. "I can't drop her off , I don't hve a car their! .... You are so damn selfish ..." He hung up. He slammed the phone down on the table and put is chunky face into his hands.

"You alright?" I asked my dad walking over to him. He lifted his head and let out a laugh. "Don't ever be like you're mother okay?" He said shaking his head. "Lets go"

The drive to the airport was quiet. All I did was listen to the radio while my dad stayed silent. "So .." I started off saying. "Is mom picking me up after I get off the plane?" He sighed. "No .. my mom is picking you up after the plane ride ... you're mom's 'busy '" He said air quoting 'busy'. I loved my grandma Hannah. She was one of the people that I could trust with my life.

At the airport , their were many people scattering everywhere. I squinted my eyes and looked for a plane that is flying to Baltimore , Maryland. That's where I'm from & where I currently live. Believe it or not , I flew to China for the summer to stay with my dad , since I barely see him and plus my mom has a VERY important job , & she's barely home. My dad is riding the plane ride back with me because my parents wouldn't like me taking a plane ride from China to Baltimore alone.

When we got on the plane , we took our seats. "Kiana , I apologize for being an asshole the ride here ..." My dad said. I smiled because the way he cursed with his accent sounded funny. "It's okay. But why were you upset?" I asked. He shook his head. "It's your mother ... she is so hard-headed. She was supposed to pick you up from the airport but she was too busy with her boyfriend" BOYFRIEND? Not this again ... "So thats why Grandma is coming to pick us up. I'm staying at her place for a while"
