Darius' POV

The Rays of the sun shines to the ground as I worked to remove the weed from the wheat. This was my job, alright. I am a farmer, but I do not own any land for I am poor.

As I remove the weed from the wheat, I heard someone called my name. A familiar voice that I seem to not recognize as to who it was.

"Darius!" I heard muddy footsteps approaching me. I turned around to see my brother, Joshua.

"Hello, Joshua. How are you?" I asked as I picked up what I was meant to pick up. I glanced over him. He just shrugged as his response.

"Well, that's obviously not an answer." I chuckled in between lines. He sighed and placed his hands in his pockets. I wiped off the sweat that was pouring down my face.

"You've been in the sun for quite long." He stated.

"Obviously." I muttered.

"What?"

"Nothing." I continued to work. He hummed a tune that I remembered back when we were children.

"You still remember that tune? It was from six years ago."

"Of course." I replied as I continued my work. Some time has passed, the next thing I knew was that it's already midday, or almost lunch. I placed the entire weed in a stack and then burnt them somewhere away from the rice fields. Joshua still followed around and chat with me, Of course, I responded to most of his questions and the random words that he spat out.

"Are you going home?"

"I have to eat lunch, Joshua." I answered with a sigh. I looked around the area for quite a while before going back home.

Once I was home, it was time for lunch. Though, it is not a special treat, it's still considerable of a food. I saw vegetable soup on the table with a little rice, enough for four people.

"Mother, Father, I'm home." I placed my hat down on the chair. I sat back, removing my sandals. I watched as Joshua sat down on the dining area waiting for me and our parents. Maybe they're not here? I sighed. I stood up and went to the kitchen, hoping to see mother in there.

I called out to my mother, but no response. Probably, she went to sell the vegetables. I know that my father would go into another farm to get some seeds for the farm.

"Huh, where are they?" Joshua asked.

"I don't know." I answered.

"Let's just wait for them to come." Joshua suggested. I nodded and sat on the couch. I turned on the television and waited for them.

Before I knew it, Joshua fell asleep, sitting on the chair. I sighed and stood up. I looked at Joshua once more before I went outside. The sun was still up, yet it was sunset. I did not know that more time has passed. I should have known, anyways. I went back to the couch and waited there.
