Read The Night Away has literally been my entire world since the time I was fifteen years old. Three years ago, when i turned sixteen, I started working there. It, in my opinion is the best little bookstore and cafe on this side Chichester. I work as a barista for the cafe. I work full time while going to the University of Chichester. It's a tough load but I've been managing for over a year now. Im working to get a degree in creative writing. My dream is to one day be a successful author.
My average day is me waking up at 7:00 am and getting to work by 8:00 then a looooong ass day ending at my shift at 4:00pm then heading to my Uni for my classes at 5. I'm pretty busy throughout the week, I don't normally work on the weekends but I do have a class or two.
My weekends are mainly catch up on everything.
Around early June I walk into Read The Night Away and clock in at 8am like I normally do. Michael is already there setting up. He has been working here almost as long as I have and he isn't much older than me. He is actually one of my closest and most reliable friends. He is HUGE, I think he is probably no less than 6'3". Literally towers over me. He isn't exactly scrawny either. He takes care of himself, exercises daily and stuff .
"Michael are you ready for another woooonderful day?" I ask him. I do this sarcastically because sometimes being a barista isn't the best job in the world. We may be a little bookstore Cafe but we do get quite a decent amount customers, especially this time of year, and some of them can be quite snooty with their orders. It just makes our day so much longer than it is.
He throws his arm around my shoulder and says "Let's get this show on the road, Peaches." This is his favorite nickname for me. He almost never calls me by my real name. Halo.
He calls me peaches because of my hair. I've dyed my hair off and on for years. Orange is my main color, which is where the nickname came from.
"Hey Michael, do you want to have dinner with me and Lizzie tonight? You know how lonely our huge house can get with just the two of us." I ask him during our lunch break. Lizzie is like my sister, I've known her my entire life. We live together now in my house, the house I inherited from my grandfather when he passed. It is a large victorian house on the outskirts of town. I would spend my summers here growing up. This place was my safe haven. I would come literally the day school would let out for summer and wouldn't go home until late August. But now since it is only me and Lizzie it can get lonely.
So whenever we get the chance we invite Michael over.
"I thought you'd never ask." Michael coos while typing in customers orders. "That will be $ 5.00 ma'am"
I'm making a woman's drink when I notice the cafe go quiet, it normally never this quiet.
"Vanilla frappe for Margret" I call out while placing the cup on the counter. And then I notice him, waiting in line, the culprit to silence this busy coffee shop.
The Irishman who with his three band mates have stolen the hearts of millions of merciless girls around the globe. Niall James Horan.
Authors Note:
I made this beginning chapter shorter on purpose, the following chapter will be defiantly longer. Xxx thank you
