Expectation is a strong word, its the shadow we follow in making all our decisions. You may want to do something in life, but a family member is holding you back. You may make a choice that everyone disagrees with, so you abort it.

Factors of expectation and personal influence are striking properties that help us make choices. When you have your eye on something, keep your eye on it. People may swerve you away but if your sure thats the path you want to take stick to it. The learning outcome of your decision will benefit you when you need to make more choices in the future. If im a boss and you come to me wanting to take my position, I will heavily persuade you to back down from it. The same applys with family, If your mum or dad wants you to be something and you want to be something else, forget there judgement.

This chapter is highly relevant to the first chapter but this is how close peers and family modify your decisions rather than the media. Expectations are high on the youth population, parents want there offspring to out perform and succeed in the highest of levels, its only natural. However you can decide what you want to do. Its not all about how much money you earn its about how much you enjoy life.

To succeed in life everyone is built on capitalist idea of having a status, it seems your main objective is to become one of the elite (e.g a boss ect). We are all brainwashed into wanting careers based upon the very few individuals who have the high life. Continuous propaganda from 1950 - onwards when business gained stronger media powers, has injected the older generation with expectation for the youth, to copy and gain the same rituals as the rich and powerful. None of this matters in life as long as your happy.

Overall its important that the house holder of your brain is you. You know your strengths and ambitions. Its important to remember that you do need some form of career to survive, but make it one that gives you a smile. Even if you get disagreements, reassure them that what you have chosen is right for you.
