The dark figure paused in the door way to survey the street. Seeing that it was empty, it continued on it's way, keeping to the early morning shadows under the eves of the buildings. It continued un noticed through the town. When ever it met others along it's path it would step back against the building, head tilted downwards, hiding its face in the deep cowl of its cloak. If they noticed the cloaked figure they paid it no mind and would probably not remember it later. With silent steps it made its way past the slanted, overrun houses of the lower city and towards the just awakening market district. It stopped only once, at a small bakery, emerging shortly after with a small parcel that was quickly hidden in side it's long cloak. The bare dirt of the poorer market stalls soon gave way to the stone cobbled streets of the wealthier merchants. The shadow made it's way to the residential streets and finally to a tall building with ornately carved pillars guarding the door. When it found that the door was locked it touched a hand to the lock, and with a small but bright flash of light, the door opened. Silently slipping through the now open door, the figure made it's way up the curved staircase and down a hall to a slightly ajar door. Slipping through into the comfy, airy bed room the figure made absolutely no sound. In the dawn light a young girl could be seen lounging in bed clothes on a sofa in front of a low fire. With silent foot steps the hooded shadow made it's way over to the sofa. A slight squeak made it's way past the girls lips as she saw the figure.
"Leery! Why do you have to move so quietly? You about scared me to death!"
A low chuckle was emitted from the depths of the cowl as the figure threw the cowl off to reveal a young woman in the prime of her youth. She had large dark eyes framed by long black lashes that brushed her pink cheeks delicately when she closed her eyes. The maidens hair was a lustrous brown that cascaded in long waves to the middle of her back.
"You know I don't mean to scare you, Nell. Maybe you should pay more attention." Leery teased in a voice that was low, soft, and sweet.
"Well maybe I should. Any way, what ever were you doing out at this early hour? Don't you know that decent people are still in bed?" Nell's high soprano voice was a sharp contrast to Leery's tenor. In fact everything about the girls was a contrast. Nell was a tall, pale, blond haired, blue eyed beauty were as Leery was a short, curvy, dark, mysterious woman.
"I had business to take care of. And I wanted to get some fresh bread for breakfast."
"Business, hu? Don't you mean that you were at the hospital down in Penny District healing?" Nell replied with a knowing raise of her slender eye brow.
"I also got you that berry fritter you like." Leery replied as she set their breakfast out on a low table next to the fire, ignoring the question.
"You how dangerous it is! You spend most of your time healing stabbings and gang war wounds! You can't just go down there by your self! Especially at that hour, it much to dangerous for a young women to be out at this time of day"
"I don't need you to lecture me, Nell." Leery replied quietly, not looking at the other girl. "I know how dangerous it is. I go by my self in the mornings because that is when all of he nights fight victims come in. If they are going to have a chance at living it is only if they are healed then, not hours later when he temple healers get there. I have never been bothered by any one, ever. You know that I can get around with out people seeing me." at this Leery turned from the food and addressed Nell directly. "You forget that those are the streets I grew up on. Besides do you really think that any one would be able to hurt me?" Leery turned around and started to put some jam on her bread.
Nell was slightly taken aback by her friends speech. "I'm sorry Leery. I know that you can take care of yourself, I just worry. What happened this morning to get you so edgy?"
"You know me to well." Leery said with a quiet sigh. "I helped heal a women who had been raped, violently. You know how much I hate rape. This women was so scared. She was lucky I was there. The only other people there were male and she wouldn't let them anywhere near her. If I had not been there they would have sedated her so that the could get a better look at her. She would have been even more mentally scared. Nell, I erased her memory." this last part was said with a touch of reluctance.
Nell did not know what to say.
"She had a blow to the head as well as other injuries. No one will know what I did. They will just think it was her concussion, or her mind just blocking it because of the trauma."
Nell could remain silent no longer. "Oh leery, you know it's illegal to tamper with evidence of a crime. And you erased most of it." Nell said quietly. "It is also illegal to tamper with someones head without permission."
"She was begging me to do it Nell. I couldn't refuse her." Leery searched her friends eyes desperately for even a hint of understanding.
" I understand, Leery. I just wish you wouldn't take such risks."
Leery handed Nell her fritter that was now warm and they both ate in silence. Both girls thinking their own thoughts.
"You are right about being able to defend your self." Nell said, breaking he silence. "I would love to see the look on anyones face if they tried to mess with you."
Both girls laughed and with a mischievous glint in her eye Lerry replied.
"I'm sure the would be quite SHOCKED"
"All you would have to do would be to make even a spark of that lightning of yours hop from one finger to another and even the bravest of men would run!".
The tension of earlier broken the girls continued to talk until the sun had fully risen.

Ok so this is just the first chapter of a story that I have been thinking about writing for a long time. I have other later chapters written, I kinda just write what I feel like writing so the chapters I have so far make no sence if you put them together. I have the story planed out in my head but I really want to know if other people would be interested in reading it, if you would please let me know by voting and reviewing, other wise I will probably not put the rest on here. I would really appreciate it if you could give me feed back. I love writing and if you think my writing could benefit from some advice yo could give, please by all means, give it! I'm not afraid of criticism.
And if you have any better ideas for a title, tell me PLEASE!
