Chapter 2
Darkness fell everywhere around my room. Over my picture of my family when we were happy and Mom was alive, over my various dancing trophies, and over the little first aid kit I keep for when he beats me.
I checked my clock and it was around midnight. Dad will probably be passed out so now I can creep out of the house. I had on spandex, a UCLA t-shirt on with a pair of point ballet shoes over my back. I tiptoed out of the house so my dad wouldn't wake up.
I walked to the old Chinese restaurant and listened to the crunch of the gravel in the dark allies. When I finally reached the restaurant, I climbed over the rusty white fence behind it and climbed the fire escape.
When I got up there, I admired the same view I've seen so many times then I tied on my shoes and put on headphones with my Generation 1 Ipod touch plugged in and put on dance versions of songs that I loved listening to and calmed me down.
I started dancing to the music. I closed my eyes and felt like I was on a stage dancing. I imagined a crowd watching my every move, and feeling like some sort of goddess.
I finished the routine, and imagined the crowd giving me a standing ovation. I then checked my ipod and noticed what time it was.
I ran home and hoped my dad didn't notice I was gone.
