*Flashback*
“Talia,” My grandma whispered in my ear as a calming gentle melody. She closed the book which she was reading to me.
“Yes?” I asked. “Stay away from cats. They are dangerous,” My Grandma warned me in a harsh tone.
“Why?”I chirp.
“Just stay away,” My Grandma threatened raising her voice again. “Don’t ask anymore questions.”
I didn’t say anymore. My parents would always called my grandma a lunatic, they would forbid me to stay alone with her. Today, I don’t know why she was here she just popped up out of nowhere. Of course, I was happy but then the next morning she was gone. It wasn’t normal, when my parents found out my grandma was here. They took me to a hospital to get me inspected. It was a total prison it was so dark, cold, no one would visit me, my parents would once a week. None of the other kids would play with me, that’s how my personality took a 360 degrees change. It wasn’t till the year my grandma died, I was let out of the prison.
*A year later*
It has been a year since my Grandma died mysteriously. The last words she said to me were “Stay away from cats. They are dangerous” and “Just stay away.”
I don’t know what she meant. I wish she was here still. Today I was turning 12 and my Grandma wouldn’t be here to see me grow up. My parents were out since they are workaholics. They are never home, not even today, my birthday.
I went outside to go out for a walk. I lived near the woods. I always heard strange noises. I wasn’t afraid of the woods though. I walked into the dark and cold woods. I heard a yowling noise and saw a golden tabby cat, blood gushing from his throat. I ran over to the poor thing. “Cats are dangerous,” My Grandmother’s words rang throughout my head. I ignored her words, I couldn’t just ignore a poor helpless animal. That would be inhumane. I picked the cat up and ran back to the house. I called my friend, Maddie to asked her to bring cat food and a couple of blankets over.
Maddie finally came over after a half an hour. “What is wrong?” Maddie asked. I showed her the bleeding tom cat. “That poor thing!”She gasped.
“Just watch him while I get the band aids and neosporin,” I ordered. I know it was stupid to put band aids on a cat,but it was worth a shot.
I ran into the bathroom and opened the cabinet door.”Band aids, were are you,” I mumbled to myself. I found a large box of spongebob band aids. “Ah ha,” I cheered while throwing a victory fist. I ran back into the kitchen, where the cat was. The cat was asleep, the injuries was too much to bare. I stuck some neosporin on where his wounds were, he flinched but I quickly stuck band-aids where his wounds were.
After awhile, he woke up.I fed him. It took him a while before he could eat. I had to put him out near the back door before my parents got home. My mom and dad hate animals. If they found out I just had one in the house, they would kill the cat and move to a different house. I, for the other hand, love animals. I just pretended to hate them in front of my parents. After he was better,I put him outside, still covered in band aids. He shook all the band aids off, well that was a good use of band aids. He glared at us before leaving while we smile and wave good bye to him. After I watch him leave, I went to my room and flopped on top of my bed.
“Ha, didn’t I tell you this would happen Talia.” My grandma materialize in thin air. I took a step back in shock. How did she do that? Sure, I was happy to see her again but this is freaky and creepy.
“Gran-Grandma.” I stutter while grandma just laughed at me. My eyes widen, grandma wasn’t like this before. “WHO IS THIS?” I screamed. My so called grandma just hit her thighs while laughing.
