Alex was a fearless boy. However, his best friend Jay was very easy to scare. It was the day before Halloween and Jay was terrified. Alex had somehow talked him into going to the biggest and creepiest haunted house in the country. The house was located in Central Park, New York City. The boys lived in a suburb called Scarsdale. Scarsdale was known to go all out for Halloween. Many people would go to the local haunted houses before the New York City haunted house. Scarsdale was almost a stepping stone for New York City. Jay would be frightened to near death while Alex calmly walked through every haunted house; unfazed, knowing that everything was fake.

Jay wanted to cancel the trip to the Big Apple knowing that if he got this scared at the Scarsdale haunted houses, he would never survive the scariest house in the country. He couldn't fall asleep that night thinking about it. He thought back to the events of that morning. Jay had wanted their parents to come with them, but Alex had convinced them that the boys were teenagers now and could go out in their own. But since Jay kept pleading with them, the boys' parents said Alex's older sister would go with them.

Alex's sister had gotten mad and yelped, "Mom, you know I have a Halloween party tomorrow. And I'm not missing any senior parties. This is my last year with the kids I've known since kindergarten. Sheesh! Give a girl a break!"

To that Alex's mother replied in a harsh tone, "Bethany Renee Agev! I don't want that kind of sass. You won't be going to any senior parties if you don't take your brother and his friend to New York."

So, the next day the trio found themselves in a subway to Central Park, New York City. As they stepped off the subway, the sky suddenly turned dark and stormy.

"What the ----?" said Alex.

Bethany said, "Alex, do you want me to tell Mom what you've been saying!"

"No, no please, if you don't tell Mom, I owe you one."

"OK, so some of my friends actually came to this lame place and I'm gonna hang out with them and you can't tell Mom I left you without an adult."

"Deal."

"Wait, hold up, so you're just gonna leave us here, with no adult," Jay questioned.

"Yup, uh don't die; meet you back here around 10:30, OK?" asked Bethany as she left to go to her friends.

Oh Great! Jay thought. Even though Bethany wasn't really protective, he had still felt as if he had an adult at his side in case of emergencies. Now that Bethany was gone, Jay was almost positive that he would die.

As the boys walked towards the haunted house, the door flew open and a voice from deep inside the house bellowed, "Welcome, Alex Agev and Jay Jones, enter if you dare!"

"Did you hear that?" Jay asked Alex in a fearful tone.

Alex, who was zoned out, said "Uh, hear what?"

"That door just said our names!"

"Did you have too much candy, 'cause I think you're on a sugar high."

The voice boomed again, "Once you cross this threshold, you will never be allowed to come back."

Alex reassured Jay, who was now half petrified, that the voice was just a special effect and that they would get out safely. Then as the pair crossed the threshold, the voice started cackling in a villainous manner. Alex told Jay that there was a motion sensor that would set the laughing off. The boys heard a scream from deep inside the haunted house and saw people rushing out of the house.

Seeing this, Jay said, "Alex, I think we should get out of here."

Alex said, "C'mon, don't be a wimp Jay, let's go and check it out."

"I'm not so sure, Alex. It's the creepiest haunted house in the country and people are running for their lives."

"Exactly my point, there are probably some cool special effects in there."

Knowing there was no beating Alexander Agev in an argument, Jay reluctantly trudged along behind Alex. "I wonder if this place is actually haunted," he asked. As if listening to the boys talk, a masked man with a chainsaw jumped out of nowhere. "Aaaaah!" screeched jay as he leaped into Alex's arms. Jay also said some unadvised words, which will be left to interpretation.

"What the , man?!" Alex roared at Jay, who was still in his arms. "It's just an actor Jay, breath, in and out. Good job, are you good?"

Jay told Alex that he was fine. As soon as he was calm and they started to walk again, they heard the chainsaw again behind them. More people rushed out of the haunted house and they heard screaming behind them. Now, Jay was practically begging Alex to go back but Alex would not budge. Jay saw something with a handle on the wall. Thinking it was a concealed exit, he reached up and opened it and a reeking body rolled out.

"Aaaaaaah!" screeched Jay in a high pitched and girly voice.

"For the love of God, please shut up Jay!" yelled Alex.

Jay immediately went quiet. But after a moment's silence, Jay squeaked, "But did you see that, a body just rolled out of there!"

"For the last frickin' time Jay, those are special effects! I'm pretty sure that's just a manikin they wrapped up and got to smell really bad."

After fifteen minutes of quick quiet progress, the boys finally reached the middle of the house. Now they saw what was happening. There were skeletons running around with weapons. Jay tried running away but Alex stopped him and told him to watch. The skeletons were practicing fighting.

"Wow, Jay, look at these actors, I wonder how they make it look so real," said Alex.

"Maybe the skeletons are real."

"Are you still on your sugar high because I'm pretty sure you just told me those skeletons were real."

"I wonder what they are practicing for."

"I don't know, but let's get closer."

"I'm fine just where I am."

"C'mon, you're acting so wimpy today."

The boys started making their way to the skeletons. Then suddenly, they all turned their attention to Jay, "Welcome, Mr. Jones, we've been awaiting your arrival," the skeletons all said in the same ghoulish voice. They all pointed at a grave in the middle of the room marked "Jay Jones" with the death date October 31st, 2015. "You die today," said the skeletons in perfect unison.

Then suddenly Alex started talking in the ghoulish voice, "I've been with them the whole time. Now it's time for you to get in your grave." And with a sudden burst of energy, Alex picked Jay up and hurled him into the grave. Jay broke his back on the impact so he couldn't do anything but yell as Alex and the skeletons buried him alive.

But to this day, some say that on Halloween night, they can hear a young boy screaming for help from the heart of the haunted house. However those who are brave enough to check it out never come back.
