The baby project.

I sat in my health class as eager as ever. Today we were getting partnered up and we were gonna take part in a class activity called the baby project. For this project we get excused from school for 6 months and must attend the online courses. I was waiting to be partnered. "Ok class let's see..." The teacher paused and lowered her glasses as she looked at the list. "Brooke and Ethan." She paused again. "Maddy and Elliot. Summer and Andy." I waited growing more impatient as I watched group by group my friends getting up and going to the gym to go and find the children that they wanted. "And last but not least... Zody and..." She took a long pays and looked at the sheet in shock. "Jericho?" She said as more of a question then a statement. I have had a crush on Jericho for three years. I am so excited to work with him. He is one of my best friends though. And dating him would probably be weird but it's just a project and I bet it's gonna stay that way. "Hey" he said rather cheerfully. "Come on!" I didn't bother deploying to his hello. I dragged him down to the gym. And we looked around. Most of the kids were still there and It made my heart brake seeing this many kids orphaned, but I knew that there were still three more classes and that by the end of the day all these kids would be adopted. "Okay so how do you wanna do this?" He asked sticking his hands in his pockets. I gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?" I asked him. "I mean like do you wanna go and pick one and I go and pick one, or do you wanna pick them both together or do you wanna pick two babies and like I pick a girl and I pick a boy?" He asked making strange gestures with his hands. "Ummm let's go pick them together." I dragged him further into the gym and then stopped. "What age group do you want?" I asked. Him and I both have larger families. "Do you want babies or like toddlers or school kids?" He looked at me and in unison we both said. "Babies." We laughed at how in sync it was and we stayed there for a moment until I grabbed his hand and dragged him away once again. We went to the cribs with the little boys first. "Awe look at him!" I practically screamed. He was a tiny child that wasn't much older then 2 months. He was sleeping peacefully and holding his blanket tight and close to his body. "Him! Him! He is the one. What do you think?" I picked up the sleeping child and he opened his eyes momentarily and then closed them once again. He smiled at the sight and nodded softly. I squealed and quickly stopped after I realized that the tiny child was still on my shoulder. "What's his name?" I asked softly to one of the orphanage workers. "His name is Caleb." She smiled at me. "Caleb" I said and took my free hand and put it on Jericho's shoulder. "I love it." Jericho agreed and shortly after getting the money and car seat for Caleb we walked over to the section with the little girls. We saw one little girl who was trying to climb out if her crib and Jericho was quick to go over and grabbed her. She grabbed his finger and started playing with it. "I think she likes you." He was to distracted by the little girl that he didn't notice I was taking to him. "She's the one." He stated still staring at the beautiful little girl. I gently placed my hand on his shoulder. "Let's claim them as ours!" We were aloud to adopt the kids if we really wanted them and we really wanted these ones. "Come on." We wet to go and get the stuff for the little girl and we asked one of the orphanage workers what her name was. "Leah." She said with a smile. "Leah." Jericho repeated. He was really happy. "Congratulations!" The orphanage worker exclaimed. The school had already provided money for the children and a temporary home. Permeate if you end up keeping the children. Jericho and I walked out with our two new children. Leah and Caleb. They were both so cute. Leah was asleep and Caleb was fascinated by his car seat. This is so amazing. I couldn't ask for a better 'family'.
