You may be wondering why I'm up at such a time like this, well, I don't really have an answer.

Today is my first day of my Junior year at Blanchard High School. I don't understand why people get so excited for "first days of school". I mean, you're at the same school, you have the same teachers, you're in the same rooms, so what's the point?

I know, I'm a negative person. You'll see plenty more of that as the story goes on. I'm 17 years old, haven't gotten my license yet, and haven't even taken my SAT yet. I live with my parents. My mom works as a pharmacist, and my dad is a construction worker. They always seem to make time for each other. My best friend is Lauren McDaniel. She's a senior, has a car, a job, basically everything I don't have. I'm going to be crushed when she leaves because she's practically the only reason how I can survive around all these hollow-heads. I'm not jealous or envious of her, i'm just very hesitant and "not-ready" towards everything. Again, you'll find that out as the story moves along. You would think that Lauren and I wouldn't be a match, but we really are. She's been my best friend practically since diapers. I don't know what I would ever do without her. My life is basically surrounded by musical theatre and poetry. Oh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Marney. Marney Thieves. But, people usually call me Marn, or M. And, if you're ignorant and unnecessarily rude, you'll probably think of the wonderful idea of calling me Barney. Go ahead. That's what I've been called since I was in first grade. I've embraced it actually, took awhile, but I did. I even dressed up in green and purple on purpose to show how much I didn't care. Sure, that only made them say it more, but it helped me overcome it.
