Chapter 35 (<-- last chapter)
*Niall’s POV*
I held Juliet’s hand as we walked deeper and deeper into the woods. I told her time after time that I knew where we were going, but she was still worrying.
“Calm down princess. We’re almost there.” I assured and she gave me a weak smile. I then saw the spot where we were going to and I stopped a little before she could see it. “Close your eyes, we’re here.” I told her and she looked as though she was deciding whether to trust me or not. “It’ll be fine, just come on!” She put her hands up to cover her eyes. She looked like a little girl about to play peekaboo.
I put my hand on the small of her back and led her forward to the clearing that was in front of us. It was a big circle, with trees bending down like canopies to shade the whole place. There was a creek that ran on the far right side of it, and it made soothing water noises. I had set up two logs for a place to sit on and there was a picnic set up. I came out here early this morning to make it all perfect.
“And…open!” I said excitedly. When she took her hands away from her face, her eyes widened and her mouth formed a perfect “O”. Before I knew it, she was hugging me so tight I couldn’t breathe, but I didn’t mind. She kissed me passionately then took a step back to look at the surroundings. It seemed as though she was too mesmerized to breathe. After all, the site was breath-taking.
“Niall, it’s—it’s gorgeous!” she cheered and hugged me again. “I knew you’d love it.” I told her as I spun her around. “I made a picnic for us. There is a TON of food in there, trust me,” I said. She loves food as much as I do, which is hard to do.
We ate and talked and talked and ate everything was going just how I hope it would. She kept complimenting me on how beautiful this spot was and how I knew just how to take her breath away.
After the food was devoured, she came and sat in my lap as we laid back to look at the clouds.
“Ooh, ooh, it’s Mary Poppins flying with her umbrella!” she pointed to a cloud that truly looked like a woman with and umbrella. “I see a frog on a skateboard,” I told her, pointing in the opposite direction. We continued looking for shapes, seeing a horse pulling a carriage, a giraffe drinking out of a stream, and palm trees.
“Look, it’s Cinderella dancing with her prince,” she said breathily as she pulled at a string hanging from my jeans. “You know, you’re my prince.” She said, turning around to face me. Her chocolate orbs were so beautiful, and they just lit up when she smiled.
“Well that’s good, because you’re my princess,” I teased, poking her in the ribs and making her laugh. “So, can I have this dance, m’lady.” I asked in some weird medieval voice, offering her my hand and standing up. “Why sure, kind sir.” She answered grabbing my hand, and me hoisting her up off of the ground.
We danced clumsily, as neither of us could dance well, while we sang “Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran in perfect harmony. We tripped a few times and once she fell on top of me, giving me the opportunity to steal a kiss. But we always got back and kept dancing. After about 6 clumsy falls and not breath, she collapsed into my chest and hugged me tight.
“I love you so much.” She whispered. “I love you more.” I teased, but she didn’t answer, but gave me another fiery kiss full of passion and need for more. I was leaving today, and I wanted something to remember her by, and this was it.
“So, to round off our wonderful day, I have something I would like to give you.” I said, reaching into the picnic basket and pulling out a small velvet box.
“We’re too young to get married, as you have pointed out before, so I got you this. So you can love me that way.” I opened the box and she pulled out as silver ring with a multicolored crystal in the center. The crystal was pretty large, but there was still enough room on the band to have an engraving put in.
“Niall, it’s beautiful!” she cooed, hugging me. “Don’t you like the engravings on the side too?” I asked and she held the ring up again. On one side it said “Juliet and Niall” and on the other it said “Forever and Always”. She looked as though she was about to cry.
“Juliet, I want you to know that I will love you forever and always. And hopefully once you graduate college, you will still love me and maybe by then we’ll be old enough to get married.” I teased and she looked at me with teary eyes. “I don’t know what to say except thank you, and sorry that I didn’t get you anything,” she said shyly. “Don’t worry, I don’t need anything. You are all I need.” I kissed her again, this time slowly and sweetly.
A few silent tears slid down her rosy cheeks and I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked in the sunlight. “I will love you Juliet, forever and always.” I said, and the tears began to stream down my face. Happy tears, tears of pure joy and love.
“Forever and always Niall.” She whispered and hugged me tight.
