"Latten! You need to get ready for your new university."

I look up to see my mom with her hands on her hips. "Yes Mom."

I throw stuff into a suitcase, and run around. First day of university is tomorrow. I got asked to have a scholarship to River bank University, and it is right beside my house.

My mom told me I'm sleeping in a dorm for now, since my mom is super busy. Personally, I think she's busy having sex with her new boyfriend James.

My dad and mom divorced when I was three, and I live with my mom. I hardly ever see my dad. Ehm. never.

My dad is in England with a sweet lady named Natalie. I haven't heard from him, but I think they're getting married.

Enough talking. I better get to work.

Putting my stuff in a suitcase is hard, because I have too many clothes. I can't choose which one is cuter.

I heard we'll be getting uniforms, but I think it's a good idea to bring clothes in case.

My best friend Julie is going to Harvard, in Boston. Julie is a total brainiac, and won a scholarship. I am also a brainiac, but I'm more of a writer.

I throw my favourite shirt inside, as long with my jeans and pink high-heels.

I don't put my makeup kit in it because tomorrow I'm using it.

During dinner, my mom tells me about her old friend Nelly and how she went to River bank University. Nelly had gotten a great job, being a boss of an Editing company.

***

When I go to bed, I think about how I'll be sharing a dorm with someone tomorrow, and how I will learn how to become an author.

I don't even finish thinking, before I fall into a dead sleep.

***

The next morning I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock. I grumble and shut the damn thing.

I climb out of bed and pull out my best outfit. One-side white T-shirt, jeans, extremely high pink heels, and a pearl bracelet.

I grab my suitcase and bag, and of course--my cell phone and iPad mini, and run downstairs. My mom brings me my breakfast--pancakes--and I eat up.

After I brush my teeth and hair, my mom smiles at me. "Good luck, Latten. Have fun."  I nod. "Bye Mom." I hug her and run out of the door. It's walk distance to my new university, and I make it on time. I see some people chatting excitedly and some walking around, discovering more. I am also one of those people that are discovering more.

I go to my assigned dorm, and drop off my suitcase. I look at who I'm sharing a dorm with. Someone named Drizella.

Okay, interesting.

I run out of the dorm building, and go to my first class. Writing.

Whoo!

My new teacher, Mrs. Brown, greets us by shaking our hand. "Welcome class! My name is Mrs. Brown, and I will be your writing teacher this year!" The class whoops. Mrs. Brown laughs. "I have written many books, including Charles Dickenson." The class gasps, including me. Mrs. Brown shakes it away. "That's fine. But I've written a book in fifth grade called Suddenly Natural. Anybody recall that?" I nod. Suddenly Natural has been my favourite book since I was in tenth grade.

"Well," Mrs. Brown clasps her hands together, "I'm going to teach you how to write like me!"

The class lets out a whoop. I notice one person isn't whooping. He's very beautiful, with his brown curly hair, and deep blue eyes. I suck my breath in. Definitely attractive.

"So, would everyone take out your writing text books we provided during the summer?" Mrs. Brown asks, and we all dig into our bags. Everyone, except the attractive guy.

"Excuse me, what is your name?" Mrs. Brown asks, peering down at the guy. "Thomas," He says. "Thomas James."

I turn red. A handsome man, with a handsome name.

I sigh.

"Thomas, please get your text book." Mrs. Brown says. Thomas nods, and reaches for his book. His eye's meet mine, and I blush.

I sigh another happy sigh. I wonder what figure he has.

"Alright class, I'm glad everyone brought their books. Now, let's begin." Mrs. Brown says, smiling.

 ***

Before lunch, I go to my dorm, and see a brunette there, putting her stuff on the lower bed. She looks up. "Oh, hi." I say. "Hi!" She flips her gorgeous brown curly hair. "I'm Drizella." She reaches out her hand. I shake it. "You must be Latten." She says. I nod. "Nice to meet you! I love your name. You know, I use to speak Latin." Drizella beams. I smile. "That's cool." I glance at the bottom bunk. "Guess you dibs the bottom?" Drizella nods. "I always prefer bottoms. I have this thing with tops." Drizella shudders. "I have lunch." I say, changing the subject. "Me too." Drizella wipes her finger. "Just wanted to see what our room would be like." She glances around the room. "Bigger than I expected." I nod. "I know."

***

When we get to lunch, I point out Thomas, and Drizella beams. "I know. Thomas has been to my old school, and he's totally hot. Have you seen his figure?" Drizella sighs. "Gorgeous." I nod. "When did you see him shirtless?" I ask. "During swimming. He was on the team." Drizella says. I nod. "Cool."

We get our lunches, and I have to say. The food is way better than my old schools.

"So," I ask. "Where did you come from?"

"I come from Toronto. My family moved there when I was three." Drizella explains. I nod. "I'm from here." Drizella nods, impressed. "A towny, huh? I love New Jersey as well."

We eat, talking about our life.

"Your parents are divorced? Mine aren't. My parents aren't very romantic." Drizella says. "My mom and James are." I say. "Actually, they probably are having sex right now." Drizella makes a face. Then glances at Thomas. "If I had to have sex, it would definitely be him."

I don't even have to ask, and I know who she exactly is talking about.

One word. One beautiful word. One handsome word.

Thomas.
