You know that funny feeling of numbness you get when you don't know what to do. When your confused. That is exactly what I feel now. Just this morning I and my dad were talking about mates because I would be 18 in the next three years. Now it all felt like a distant dream.

Pack members were all around fighting and clawing at the enemy pack. Bodies were scattered all over the ground some in their wolf form while others in their human form. I didn't know where dad was because he was the alpha and he had to fight for and with his pack. He instructed me to run away from the pack grounds but my feet just stayed glued to the ground as I watched him take on three wolves at the same time. Who does that? He was able to kill one and cause serious damage to the other two but I could tell he was about giving up.

Without thinking, I shifted into my grey wolf and pounced on one of the wolves. I sank my teeth into it's neck as the wolf was caught off guard. The other one growled at me but before he could lunge at me dad caught him by the tail and disconnected it while the wolf howled to death.

"Why are you still here Amari" he asked through the mind link.
"I don't know, I couldn't just leave you here along with my future pack" I replied.
"I am so proud of you and your mother would be too, but I care ab...". He couldn't continue as we saw a large swarm of wolves coming to back up their fighters.
"Dad I think we need help" I stated.
"I've asked the Black Blood pack for help but I really dont know, but what I do know is that you have to leave" he said.
"What? I cant leave."
"Amari leave. I promise I'll be back. No matter what happens."
"But..."
"Leave" he said in alpha command and leaped over me for a wolf I did not know was behind me. I couldn't disobey so I just ran leaving my dad and almost extinct pack members.
"I love you and I'm proud of you" were the only words I heard last from my dads mind link before it went dead. He was dead. I just kept running out of frustration. I didn't even notice when two wolves were beside me telling me to stop until I was tackled and ordered to shift.

It was from the moment I met their leader Malcom Grey that I knew that my life would never remain the same.
