The sound of notifications ringing on my phone woke me up, I started to get up when I felt her snuggling her body closer to mine resting her head on my arm. I shook my head in amusement as I recanted what led to this. This is not how I picture the night going when we were flirting on our ride home. It was the homie, Terrance who upon finding out I was moving to ATL, asked if I could host in his newly-bought club. I agreed because he was one of the few people who supported me at the start of my music career. Terrance and I went way back, back when I had cornrowed in and had just signed with Atlantic Records, releasing my single "Can't Help but Wait." At the time, T was an ambitious intern, interning at my record label and was just starting out, saving money to purchase properties, now look at my boy, purchasing one of ATL hottest clubs, MJQ concourse. It was only right that I showed love to my boy, even if that means dropping in for an hour. I was by the D.J. booth when I spotted the most beautiful girl I've seen in awhile. She had a black dress, purple hair, shaking everything her mama gave her. It wasn't only her bright hair that made her stand out but something else made her stood out in the sea of women that was down there. I watched her for a few ignoring the scene around me, when the D.j Boof, nudged my shoulder with the mic.
When I got to my section and saw her sitting there with her friends, I found myself instantly drawn to her, completely forgetting that I had invited a lady friend ,who clung on my arm the whole night, with me. But, I have her to thank because she was the one who introduced us. I tried to talk to Mercedes while beside her but everyone kept, either calling my name for pictures or small talk, so I whispered for her to wait for me.While I went and handled the reason why I came here in the first place: host. I got back to the section, when I noticed Mercedes had left.
I tried not to make it hot that I was disappointed that she left. I waited a few minutes before signaling my team that I was out. While waiting for the valet to bring my car around, I saw Mercedes again, waiting for a ride. It was then I decided to swoop in and offer her a ride, as a means to get to know her more. Not once it crossed my mind that hours later we would be on my bathroom floor as she cried and vent to me about some nigga who broke her heart. The pain in her voice and eye still bothered me even hours later as I watched her shuffling in her sleep. Some man just don't deserve some women I tell you.
"Oh god." She said covering her face. "Did we ....you know?"
"Nope, you had already had my hoodie on last night, so I threw some basketball shorts on ya and that was that," I told her, removing the cover from her face. "How are you feeling?Do you have a hangover ?"
"My head feels like weight has been pressing against my skull."She groaned."Where's my phone?"
"In the living room."I motioned. "It should be fully charged by now."
"What time is it ?" She asked, holding her head.
"Noon."
"Oh boy, Z is gonna kill me."I hear her whisper. "Could you grab my phone for me ?"
I walked out of my bedroom and down the stairs to retrieve her phone from the charger. It was there, her phone began flashing with a large sum of notifications. "Here you go." I handed her her phone when she began storming away at texting.
"I got tylenol in one of my bathroom cabinets here, to help with your hangover."
"Hmmm, thank you." She smiled, groggily.
"Take all the time you need, I gotta fly in a few hours for an interview in New York. But, you could stay here as long as you would like. I can have my assistant drop by and bring you food before you---
