Eren walked through the grassy fields that made up most of the area around the Survey Corps Head Quarters. There was snow covering the grass which meant that winter was upon them. Normally, Eren would have been giddy with excitement. He would be making plans to go out and spend time with his lover.
But to Eren, the world was grim and un-wanting. Everything had turned to a bleak and colorless future. Nothing seemed happy to him anymore. His life didn't seem to have anymore purpose in it and he felt like he could just die.
But one thing kept him going. The were the final words ever spoken by his dear lover.
Live on and be happy. Never forget me.
Those simple words were the only reason why Eren hadn't purposely fed himself to the Titans yet. He was trying his best to live out his lovers dying wish but he also felt he was doing a terrible job of meeting his wishes. Eren wasn't happy and didn't feel like living on any longer.
But the other half of the wish was the easiest part for Eren to fulfill.
Levi Ackerman had always been looked up to by many in the Survey Corps and just the world in general. He was strong and brilliant, following orders to make sure he and his comrades stayed alive, constantly saying that his squad members train harder so they can fight off the Titans easier, and his unlikely kindness.
Every now and then, Levi would show kindness to people he felt deserved it. He would flash them a smile or compliment them or even give them a day off from their chores.
Some people got to experience this once or twice. Sometimes if Levi really liked that person, he would show his kindness to them quite often.
Then there was the one that he had fallen in love with.
Eren Jaeger and Levi Ackerman were an infamous couple. It had started out as just a regular relationship between an underlining and his superior, Levi giving the orders and Eren following them. But, after the expedition with the Female Type Titan encounter, their relationship changed.
Eren knew that Levi was upset about the deaths of his squad members. They were his precious comrades and he didn't want to see them get hurt or killed.
Levi knew Eren was upset as well. Eren thought that them dying was his fault. He felt that he had left them to die when he had chosen to believe in them when they went up against the Female Type Titan. He felt he had made the wrong choice and that was why they were dead.
Levi would act like his usual self, not giving a damn about half the shit about everything that went on in his life.
But after the death of his squad, people noticed that his random acts of kindness stopped completely. Eren noticed especially. He had decided to confront Levi about it one night when it had been bothering him so much that he couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Captain?"
The captain had looked up from his tea and looked the brunette in the eyes. He sighed and turned back to look at the wall while he sipped his tea.
"What is it Jaeger?"
Eren's stance had stiffened at the name he had been given. For the whole time he had known him, Levi had called Eren brat. Being called Jaeger for once made Eren know what it was like to be the recipient of one of Levi's random acts of kindness for the first time in a while.
"Sir I've noticed a change in your attitude ever since the squads death."
Levi looked up at the brunette with an annoyed expression.
