I grumbled as I outlined the curve of his body. The flow of her hair. The connection that shouldn't be lost because of my haste. The stupid charcoal kept breaking, and there was no way I was going to get this drawing done before my client refused to pay me. It's been like this for weeks. I was given a job but couldn't finish it on time. I've lost my inspiration.
"Iris!" The barista called out while holding up my caramel frap, double espresso.
"Thanks mate." I replied walking out of the corner coffee shop, giving up on the drawing for today. I roamed the streets of London a while until I finally settled on a park bench. Maybe now that im alone I can fnally get stuff done. I didn't even touch my pencil to the page before I felt someone sit next to me.
"Hello." A deep, rich voice said next to me. I glanced at him under my thick eyelashes, and even thicker glasses. "Whatcha drawin' there?" He continued.
"Um..I.." I sighed. "A tree." I showed him my sketch book, the half drawn tree still wet from when I sketched it in the bathroom earlier.
"Mind if I join you?" He asked while pulling out a leather bound sketchbook. I shook my head while finishing the shading on the trunk. It was silent for a while as we both got in a groove.
After about thirty minutes I heard his phone buzz. He sighed and pulled his phone out of his pocket and quickly read over the message.
"Its my mum, I better go. Thanks for letting me join you babe." He said, winking as he walked away. I blushed to myself. God Iris! You're so stupid! Why didn't you say anything?! Kicking myself as I left my sanctuary, I grumbly made my way home.
I stumbled into my apartment and threw my frap away. I plopped onto the small loveseat and kicked off my combat boots, accidently hitting a plant in the corner. Smooth. As I was taking my sketchbook out yet again I noticed a neatly folded up piece of paper fall out onto the carpet. I gingerly picked up the paper, and carefully unfolded it. Sketched on the paper was a replica of a flower. An iris to be exact. I marveled in the beauty when I noticed tiny, messy letters in the corner
Love to see you again. Your tree was beautiful :)
