The Big Surprise
Savannah watched Nat run back and forth at practice and he looked amazing. He's gotten so good over the past four years that it looked like he could go pro after college. That is what she hoped for, especially now more than ever. Nat smiled over at Savannah and she smiled back, even though she was trying hard not to break down from the outside. His Coach blew the whistle signaling practice is over and Nat jogged over to Savannah drenched in sweat. "Hey there beautiful, can I get a hug?" He asked as he spread out his arms and a huge grin plastered on his devilishly handsome face.
"Oh no!" Savannah exclaimed as she backed away with wide eyes and a hand held out to stop him. "Go shower and then I'll give you a hug and if you're lucky a kiss." She teased and Nat chuckled as he continued to grin down at her.
"Fine." He groaned and spun around to go jog towards the locker room. She smiled at his retreating back and let out a long sigh. Fear started to creep back into her mind and her smile started to slowly disappear from her face. She knew Nathan wasn't going to handle the news well but she was terrified that he was going to leave her. She had no idea what to do without Nat and the thought of losing him scared her to death.
"Excuse me, Miss?" Someone called from behind her and Savannah glanced behind her and noticed a man with a clipboard.
"Yes?" She asked nervously and he smiled as he walked up to her.
"I'm Matthew O'Brien, I'm the head coach for the Miami Heat." Savannah's eyes widened in shock. That was Nat's favorite team. He said if he ever had the opportunity to go pro, he'd play for Miami.
"Oh! Hi, I'm Savannah. How can I help you?" She asked and he pointed towards the locker room.
"Is Nathan Walker your boyfriend?" He asked and she nodded her head. "Well, you're boyfriend is a very talented young man. I've heard many great things about him and I had to come see what all the hype Nat is all about." He said and Savannah blushed as she nodded her head. "I was wondering if you could let him know to give me a call sometime," He reached in his pocket and dug out a business card and held it out to her. She slowly took it and studied it in awe. "If he continues to do this well next season in college I am definitely considering to sign him by the end of his freshman year." He informed her and Savannah stared up at him in disbelief.
"Really?" She asked and he chuckled at her reaction and nodded his head.
"Yes really, he's a wonderful athlete. He'd be a great addition to my team." He said and then looked at his watch. "I've got to run, give your talented boyfriend that card. Nice meeting you Savannah." He said and turned to leave.
"Nice meeting you too, Mr. O'Brien." She called after him. Once he was gone Savannah collapsed down on to the bleachers and stared at the hard wood floor in shock. How could she tell Nat that she was pregnant when he has so much going for him? She rubbed her forehead tiredly and tried to calm her racing heart. She had to tell him, but she knew whatever the outcome was she was going to keep this baby whether he liked it or not.
Nathan exited the locker room and noticed Savannah sitting on the bleachers with one hand on her head and she looked very stressed out. He walked up to her slowly and she didn't seem to notice his presence once he reached her. He knelt down in front of her and tapped her knee lightly. "Hey?" He whispered and her eyes slowly opened revealing tears struggling to be held back. "Whoa, what's wrong Sav?" He asked softly and Savannah took in a ragged breath as a tear spilled out of her eye.
"This is for you." She sighed as she handed him the business card. Nat took it and noticed the Miami Heat logo on it and his jaw fell open. "He said if you continue to do well your next season in college, he'll sign you by the end of the year. He also you'd be a great addition to his team." She stood up and started walking outside. Nat continued to stare at the card in disbelief, he heard the gym door close and he looked up quickly. He noticed Savannah was gone and he was confused. He thought she'd be happy like he was. He stood up and ran after her.
Savannah was almost to her car when Nathan caught up with her. "Don't follow me Nat." She said sternly but Nat ignored her and grabbed her hand quickly.
"Stop it, what is going on with you Savannah?" He demanded as his eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"I'm pregnant." She admitted as she whipped around to look at him. Nat froze and stared at her in shock. "I am pregnant, Nathan. You need to focus on your basketball career, I need to focus on my baby. Goodbye Nathan." She sighed as she turned and walked to her car. She opened her car door and quickly started her car.
"Savannah, stop!" Nathan shouted as he raced toward her car but she was already pulling out of the parking lot. Nathan stared after her car as he realized that Savannah's pregnant with his kid and that his favorite basketball team wants him. Today, he thought, did not go the way he had planned.*A/N: Hi Everyone.! It's Ariel And I'm Back Writing Another Story About Teen Pregnancy.!
