"You'll be staying with your aunt and uncle. They're the only family we could get a hold of"
I replayed the event in my mind over and over.
Mom and Dad.
Gone.
Everything I love.
Gone.
I looked out the window, for maybe the thousandth time this car ride.
My social worker Kelly was great, but listening to her annoying 80's music was getting on my nerves.
I couldn't even sleep.
No suprise really.
I haven't gotten any sleep since the accident really.
The screams and pleads for help always haunted me in my dreams.
After what felt like hours, a small green road sign, barely on the hinges read
"StoneBrook"
"Well we're here."Kelly smiled, even though I knew she wasn't impressed.
The sky was completely grey with clouds, looking as if it were going to rain.
"Really?..I'm old enough to be on my own" I say crossing my arms.
"Not by law."
I glare at her a moment then sigh, looking at the small town.
These people were clearly very well off.
Pulling up to a large gate, vines crawling all up the posts to the side, breaking the silence with a loud creak of the gates opening.
My eyes began to widen as the large house came into view.
"Wow.."I say softly as she nods.
After a few minutes of convincing we were at the door and knocking.
I stood quietly, shaking slightly from the cold air when the door was pulled open, a gust of warm air hitting my skin.
A boy a few years older than me answered, his square jaw and nearly black eyes looking at me up and down as if analyzing me, before doing the same with Kelly."You must be Allison" He stated, his voice deep and melodic in my ears.
"I go by Allie."
"Whatever. Im Samuel.-"He was cut short by another boy running in.
"And I'm Jackson" He smiled.
"Leave the damn girl alone!"A voice yelled before I was met by once again, another boy my age.
"I'm Ryan. Your cousin. Linda and Thomas are out right now."
Kelly nodded and handed me the paper work.
"Well have them ship me back these papers.I need to get going.Be good!" She smiled and ran down the stairs to her car.
I sighed watching the Land Rover pull away.
Turning to the boys whose smiles had all dropped.
"Welcome to StoneBrook" Ryan said softly.
"Come inside..quickly" Jackson said pulling me in.
"W-what?"
"Look. You need to get out of here.Now." Ryan said quickly locking the door.
"It's not-..safe.."He continued.
"I'm a big girl. I can manage"
I said before receiving the key to my rooms along upstairs.
It turns out the place is rented out as a hotel.
Not that anyone ever comes in.
Which made me wonder..
Why?
