You woke up to the sound of rain. You smile, you always loved the rain, it helped you, and everyone get a break from the everyday work routine.

You tried to move, but your body was locked in place by.. Newt? Ah right, your bestfriend. You two fell asleep cuddled with each other. You smile widens even more.

You fall back and bury your head in his chest, savouring the moment. It was perfect.
After several minutes, Newt slowly wakes up. You pretend to be asleep to suprise him.

"Ugh.." His hand placed on your back was removed, the cold of the rain invading it. He rubbed his eyes and saw you against him. Newt chuckled and returned to hugging you. "You're so cute. I love you so much." He said to you, not knowing you were awake.

He hears the rain and he places his chin on top of your head. "So it's raining, you love the rain don't you? You would always say that it gives you a break."

You continue to hear him babble on about small things, often something about you.

It gets silent for a second.
"I love you, (y/n), I love you so much. We're gonna get out of that maze while I protect you.."

You bite your lip, close to tears.

"You know, if you loved me too, you would've made me the happiest man in the world. If there is a world out there anyway."

You stay silent, because you wanted to hear more.

"I wish you were awake now, because I could never say those things to you, I could never say that I love you without ruining our friendship."

"I love you."
You look up from his chest, face wet with tears.

Newt was speechless. He could never imagine- but you really do love him, don't you?
"Oh god.. really?"

You laugh. "Yes! Yes, Newt, yes!"

He smiles, happiness evident on his face. "Oh my god, I'm so happy, I-"
You cut him off with a kiss, Newt giving in easily.
Breaking the kiss, you look into each other's eyes. Both filled with tears.

"I love you so much, (y/n)."

"I love you too, Newt."
