The Case of the Missing Cook Book:  A My World Today Mystery

~AUTHOR'S NOTE (PLEASE READ)~

This is a short mystery I wrote for school featuring my characters from my book "My World Today". That's why some of the wording and formatting is weird. You could probably read this as a stand-alone and still understand it. I still suggest reading MWT in addition though. This is in Darcy's point of view.

Mrs.Urecki if you are reading this please don't go back and change my grade because it might show up plagarized. I promise I wrote this!

Chapter 1: It’s a Mystery

“So, are you and Kal going out now, or what?” I asked Lori, one of my two best friends. We were sitting in her kitchen waiting for Kaylee, my other best friend, Dax, my life long enemy, and Kal, Kaylee’s twin brother, to pick us up for school.

“N-no, at least I don’t think we are,” Lori blushed. Kal had asked Lori to homecoming a week ago and they still haven’t done anything remotely couple-like. It was getting pretty annoying because every time they were together they would just blush and smile at each other. They needed to just kiss already and get it over with.

“Do you want me to find out for you?” I asked and checked my phone. Where were they?   If they didn’t hurry up and get their butts over here we were going to be late.

“No!” Lori blushed even more, “I’m fine Darcy, You don’t have to-”

“It’s terrible!” Kaylee yelled as she came running into the kitchen with Kal and Dax following after her. “Guys! It’s really, extremely terrible!”

“What is?” I asked, unconcerned. Kaylee has a slight, who am I kidding, major tendency to overreact.

“My cookbook is missing!” Kaylee looked like she was about to cry.

“You have tons of cookbooks Kaylee. What’s so important about this one?” I asked as Lori went to comfort Kaylee.

“It had the recipe I really wanted to make in it! I’ve been waiting forever for the convenience store to have the right ingredients, and now they finally do! I can’t make it without the recipe though!” Kaylee cried.

“Let’s go over to your house and Darcy and I can help look for it before school,” Lori offered.

“We already did that. That’s why we were so late,” Dax said.

“It’s not there,” Kal shook his head sadly.

Kaylee’s eyes suddenly widened and she grinned. Lori and I glanced at each other. This was not going to be good.

“It’s a mystery!” Kaylee screamed and ran up the stairs and into Lori’s bedroom. She ran back down the stairs wearing a long, brown, jacket with a belt around her waist and a brown fedora. “It’s mystery solving time!” she yelled and raised a magnifying glass above her head.
